David Johnson - Code Red Panic? - Traded to Houston
After reading the below article and watching film I'm starting to keep a closer eye on where David Johnson is going in rookie mocks. I like his receiving skills for PPR leagues. I wouldn't mind getting him with my 2.04 pick in our rookie draft but I'm starting to wonder if he'll be there. If he gets drafted to a good spot I could see him climbing rankings and going even earlier in the 2nd round.

His ceiling seems pretty capped. Looks like a good 3rd down back at best

Re: David Johnson
I played against David in high school and played college ball 15 minutes away from where he did. I watched him play against Iowa last year and the year before and I'm telling you guys he's going to be a stud.

Re: David Johnson
He was a target of mine. Love big backs that can catch and pass pro. Very good metrics as well, but didn't look like a dominate runner against sub-par competition. What are some of your concerns and where would you feel comfortable taking him in rookie drafts?

That's what i'm waiting to see, what his college dominator and breakout age are. He's got the measurables but did they translate on the field.yooperbacker wrote:didn't look like a dominate runner against sub-par competition.

Re: David Johnson
He is a rare back that reminds me of some of the great west coast backs like Roger Craig .. more dangerous catching than between the tackles...
Watched most of the games I could find, and all I could think of was .. is there a team still running a true west coast system
He is a fifth year senior so maybe some of the ageists will let him fall to mid 2nd like you would hope!

College dominator will be just over 40% which puts him in the mid 80s percentileDarkness wrote:That's what i'm waiting to see, what his college dominator and breakout age are. Breakout age should end up at 19.8 which is mid 60s in terms of percentile

Re: David Johnson
I have been trying like hell to get early seconds to get him, Mike Davis, and Jeremy Langford, I think all three have 3 down potential.
Re: David Johnson
I'm pretty much targeting all three of those guys in the 2 leagues in sig.DynastyBuilder515 wrote:I have been trying like hell to get early seconds to get him, Mike Davis, and Jeremy Langford, I think all three have 3 down potential.
Re: David Johnson
I'd like to see this guy end up in Chicago to be Matt Forte's duplicate.

David Johnson to ARI
I know he's the FCS darling to many, but I think this is almost best case scenario for Ellington. Everyone knew that ARI had to draft a RB. With all the talk about Gurley/Gordon or a trade for AP, I think this bodes well for Ellington that David Johnson is who ended up in ARI.

Re: David Johnson to ARI
He'll get early down work from time to time initially. But Ellington owners should sell before he has a chance to take over the backfield.

I don't think he's a long term solution
