Break the trade deadlock (Alshon trade)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Break the trade deadlock (Alshon trade)

Postby kuhnhound » Fri Jan 16, 2015 9:05 am

Ok guys lets get some input. There have been a few posts in the past by both my brother and I trying to get some advise on a potential Alshon trade. My team is the first in my signature. As you can see i'm stacked at WR, but somewhat lacking at RB/TE. I am looking to move a WR to upgrade my weak positions.

We are in a 10 team league, standard scoring. My brother has the 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.10, as well as a couple firsts in 2016, one of which has the potential to be top 2.

We have gone back and forth 100 times trying to hammer something out. He insists that trading me the 1.03 and 1.10 pick is the most I will ever get for Alshon, which I think is definitely not true. I'm trying to get more and he thinks i'm high. The only player i'd be willing to acquire from him is maybe Lamar Miller, who personally i'm not that high on. I'll have him post a reply to this so you all can see his full team, just for arguments sake.

Any thoughts and input would be well appreciated! We are close to murdering each other.

As a Jeffrey owner - I wouldn't take 1.03 & 1.10 unless I knew I could flip those picks for a stud to fill a lineup hole and even then I could probably just circumvent the picks and make a deal direct.

I would not let Alshon go for 1.03 and 1.10, especially in a 10 team league. 1.03, 1.10 and Miller? Maybe. I might want a better pick than 1.10.

It would take much more than Miller and 1.03 for me to trade Alshon. A top 10ish RB plus the 1.03 would get me thinking for sure, but Miller is not that guy....

1.3 and 1.10 isnt close. Maybe adding miller, but even then, until i see that miami doesnt draft and RB, i wouldnt sell him for 2 picks and miller

Tell you what: you both agree to binding arbitration. Pick four well-known DLF posters (you each pick two) and use a dice roll to determine which three will arbitrate. Those three guys/gals get to pick the trade price, and you're both stuck with it.

ETA: This is probably not a good idea, but it could be a lot of fun.

Without 1.02 I would be very hesitant to deal Alshon. Giving up a premium WR without getting either Gurley or Gordon...not likely
Maybe 1.03/1.04 and 1.10 or a 2016 1st but I would probably hold for a deal with 1.02. I like Alshon enough that without Gurley or Gordon coming my way I would not regret keeping him

I mean would I trade Alshon for Cooper and White and maybe Yeldon...probably not but maybe if Alshon was my only premium player

You guys are basically echoing what i've been saying to him, so it's nice to hear that i'm not that far off base. With his 1.03 and 1.10 offer I told him it makes no sense for be because Gurley and Gordon will be gone, i'll draft Cooper, who best case ends up as a viable replacement for Alshon, and whoever i'd get at 1.10, who is far from a sure thing. Doesn't really do anything to improve my team.

I would not trade two darts for Alshon. If Cooper is gone before the 1.03, it would be Gordon or Gurley and who at 1.10 is gonna make up the difference? This isnt close as Marshall is about to be done and Alshon will be a top 10 WR for some time. It would take 1.01 and 1.03 to get me pondering.

Alshons worth a lot more than that.
