John Brown for Ellington?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

John Brown for Ellington?

Postby jojo5151 » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:46 am

I'm pretty stacked at WR & need an RB. Is John Brown too much or not enough for Ellington? Was thinking of including B. Cunningham

I don't think it's off by that much. Ellington's an RB2 with upside. He's never really taken off.

If that's how you see Ellington, how could you possibly rate John Brown on his level? By the same logic, Brown is a WR4-5 with upside whose never really taken off.
Team 1, 10-team 0.5-PPR
QB (1): Richardson, Watson, Purdy
RB (2-3): Walker, Swift, Dobbins, R. White, Mitchell, Gainwell
WR (3-4): Hill, Godwin, Aiyuk, Flowers, N. Collins, Doubs, M. Wilson, Shakir
TE (1-2): McBride, Goedert, Okonkwo

It probably isn't remotely close right now, but 1-2 years from now I'd expect John Brown to be worth more than Ellington (or it wouldn't surprise me in the least)
DLF HOF League | 16 Team 1PPR 1QB-2WR-2RB-1TE-2FL:
QB: Deshaun Watson | Stafford | Purdy | Hooker
RB: Saquon Barkley |DeVon Achane | Deuce
RB: Alvin Kamara | Joe Mixon / Chase Brown | Tucker
WR: Tyreek Hill | Rashee Rice | Tank Dell
WR: Stefon Diggs | DeVonta Smith | MWilliams | Claypool | C Austin
TE: Higbee | Likely | Chig Okonkwo | Strange
2023: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3

DLF Premium League | 16 Team 1PPR 1QB-2WR-2RB-1TE-2FL:
QB: Joe Burrow | Mayfield | Hooker
RB: Saquon Barkley | Tank Bigsby | Deuce
RB: Alvin Kamara | Aaron Jones | JK Dobbins | Sean Tucker
WR: Ja'Marr Chase | Christian Watson | Hyatt | Shenault
WR: Keenan Allen | Marquise Brown | Calvin Ridley | Addison | Claypool | C Jones | Shakir
TE: Sam LaPorta | Strange | Jonnu
2023: 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2

Could happen, sure. I traded Ivory for Brown in a 10-team league because I like what I see. Today, there's zero chance I'd trade Ellington for him.

Right now its not enough. In two years, people might be saying Ellington isn't enough for Brown. With A. Brown and Hilton exploding this year, a lot are going to be looking at John Brown as the next short Arians receiver to go off in a few years.
