Denard Robinson

I thought Robinson looked decent yesterday. Anyone else think it's only a matter of time until he supplants gerhart as everything but the short yardage back?

I think there's a chance. However, with Bortles throwing, the team could become much more of a passing threat and make it easier for the RBs--whether Gerhart or Denard--to find success.

I was just writing a post thinking this, then decided to start looking for a current thread first.
I feel like, if everyone is so bullish on Bortles and the pass catchers, why is nobody talking about an improvement in the running game as well? Sure, JAX will be behind in almost every game they play, but they are still going to run the ball!
I would think Gerhart/Denard might be buy targets if your looking for RB2/3 type players.
Anyone else think so?

Robinson is already taking 50% of the snaps to Gerhart's 30%. I'd say he's already supplanted him.

I don't really know much about em, but is there any chance Storm Johnson comes into the fold at all? Are they paying Toby too much to even consider somebody else making some noise here at the moment?

Robinson is extremely similar in size and speed to Jamaal Charles. Not saying he is anywhere near as talented as a runner.... yet

Would a 1-1 of either Brian quick/Allen Robinson/john brown be worth it?

I would not trade ARob or John Brown for Denard. Those two are worth way more. Quick I would consider but he has been hot to start the year

Denard Robinson isn't going anywhere dynasty-significant as a pro running-back. If you wanna take a swing at a future Jags running-back, the one and only decent choice of investment at this point in time is Storm Johnson (and you could buy him for soooo cheap right now, too). He's riding pine in 2014 because he's a rookie with major pass-protection deficiency, but that can be learned and physically there's no reason he can't.

Don't think just because Gerhart is flopping that means Robinson dynasty value is really ascending. It's effectively just trading one replacement-level talent for another behind a bad run-blocking O-line.

I would literally laugh out loud if I received an offer of Denard for Brown or Robinson. An argument can almost sort of maybe kind of be made for Quick... but still not really, considering Quick has averaged 78 yards a game through three weeks and retains theoretical long-term upside despite the poor start to his career.

I would do cartwheels to the accept button if someone sent 1/3 of those guys over for Denard Robinson

Not trying to ignite anything but can someone please explain why Storm Johnson is the answer when Gerhart has been ineffective? Surely he didn't fall to the 7th round just because of pass pro...

From what I have read he seems to have all the skill's but fumbling issues dropped him down. If he can fix this he may be relevant at some point.

He also ran a 4.6, which generally is too slow to be effective unless in a zone-blocking scheme or you're Frank Gore.

He's not. He could potentially produce someday in a great system but he's replacement level. The biggest problem BY FAR in the Jacksonville running game is the O-Line. It was terrible last year. I thought it might be better this year and if it is, it's just barely. The only chance Storm Johnson has in my opinion is if at some point in the future the O-Line gets fixed at the same time that the RBs in front of him go down and he gets a chance to run behind a good O-Line.

Johnson would get killed behind that line now and is less talented than Gerhart, Robinson, and probably Todman. He was mediocre in college and didn't even play in a tough division.
