Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
Team is in signature, I'd be getting Ball.
Obviously I'm hurting at RB but I'm rebuilding anyway, so I don't want to overpay for Ball, who I'm not sure I'm sold on. However, I didn't own him in any kind of league last year, so I didn't pay much attention to him. This seems like I'd be giving up too much for a guy that hasn't proven a whole lot in the NFL yet, but I'm looking for other opinions.

Re: Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
I think that in a non-rebuilding roster, that could go either way, but in your case, I would personally just draft two RB's and maybe another one in the 2nd round. The Montee Ball trade would be make or break and as you mentioned, he hasn't exactly proven much. However, history generally shows the RB position in a Peyton Manning offense will generally produce fantasy wise and this is highlighted by Knowshon Moreno (Top 5). I would personally just sit on the two picks rather than give them up for Montee.

Re: Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
I would say go for it. You're RB starters are risky at best, plus I'm not sure you'll have a viable option on bye weeks. You can risk hitting on a starting RB in the draft or take a top young talent right now.
I don't think it's an overpay but in full disclosure I'm high on Ball.

Re: Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
It is a pretty hefty overpay for Ball imo.
1.05 and a 2nd would be about right but not all owners will sell him for that.
I would just draft a couple RB's early or late whenever decent guys fall to you.
Truth is I would probably be shopping Graham to the Shady/Charles/Martin/Lacy/Bernard/Bell/Murray owners and see what I could get from them in way of a deal

I'm a believer in Ball, but I think you are paying too much. As mentioned earlier, I may give the 1.05 and a second for him.

Just wondering for the people who say it's an overpay...what would you pay for Bell, Lacy, Gio?

This is what I thought of immediately as well. If Ball pulls a Moreno this year, you won't get him for this price next year. Not saying that justifies the price but just ssomething to think about.FoleysFolly wrote:Just wondering for the people who say it's an overpay...what would you pay for Bell, Lacy, Gio?
Re: Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
I wouldn't be buying Ball for next season. I'm worried about his production once Manning retires. So in a certain way, it doesn't matter what he does this year--I think Ball can be a top-10 back this season. But in 2015, with god-knows-who at QB, I'd knock him down quite a bit. Full disclosure: I recently traded away Ball. The Dirty Birds wrote:This is what I thought of immediately as well. If Ball pulls a Moreno this year, you won't get him for this price next year. I would rather take a shot at 2 prospects than ball at that price .
I might go 1:7 but no way on both

Good Luck getting Ball for anything cheaper. In the forums its easy to talk this or that about How you think Ball is going to produce, but in the real world he is the starting running back for the Denver Broncos and most owners are going to value him as such.

Re: Montee Ball for 1.05 + 1.07
Overpay. The big difference between Gio, Lacy, and Bell is that they have proven that they are effective while with Ball it is a big assumption.
If it cost both of the firsts I would walk away. Trading for hot assets can be tough because owners generally will overvalue what they have. I can say I am guilty of it as well when people offer for some of my favorites. I will put out an offer that I know is an overpay and if they are willing to pay it I will move the player but if not then I am just as happy to keep them. That seems like what this is.

Id absolutely take the deal... Chances are you miss on atleast one of those picks anyway, God forbid you miss on both... Montee Ball has huge potential in the upcoming seasons. I could see him being top 5.
