AJ Green, Hakeem Nicks for Josh Gordon, Nuk

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

AJ Green, Hakeem Nicks for Josh Gordon, Nuk

Postby tboucher71 » Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:21 am

I need some help here. Am I crazy for considering this? For team 2 in my sig I would be giving up AJG, Nicks, Datone Jones for Josh Gordon, DeAndre Hopkins, Shea McClellin and Kyle Williams. I'm not too worried about the defensive players in the deal although I do think Jones has a chance to break out this year, I'm more concerned with losing AJG's consistent proven production. I love Gordon and what he did last year and I'm really high on Hopkins as a WR poised to take a big step forward going into his second year. What do you guys think?

I think I'd pass on the deal and keep AJG. Its a fair offer, but looking at the state of your team, your set to win now and for awhile. Hopkins may end up being a blue chip player as well, but I'd stick with the consistency of AJG and the rest of your stacked lineup...no need to gamble on Gordon when your already have someone better or just as good.

I would keep AJ who's a sure thing. I love the upside of Gordon and he could end up being the best WR in the league, but how much better than AJ can he be - with AJ you know what you have, with Gordon it's still a lot of potential that needs to become more consistent. If I equate this to poker, the pot odds here are low for you so I would just stay out of this hand.

AJG is being drafted at an ADP of 3, while Gordon's ADP is 3.7. That's fairly close.

Nuk is 36.2, enough for a 3rd/4th round grade. That's also damn good.

Nicks is close to the 90-100 range, aka worthless.

IMO, you're not crazy. A top 6 WR for a top 6 WR, is always going to be close.

I'd accept this trade. I think you're trading 1 bonafide superstar for an emerging one, and a soon-to-be one.

I would keep the AJG side because you always know what you will get with him. Gordon is younger and put up way more points but the Briwns organization is in a state of constant flux and you just can't be 100% certain what's going on with him like you can with AJG. The Gordon/Nuk side offers much more potential as a Gordon is younger and out scored AJG. I also consider Nuk as a great young WR2 and Nicks to be borderline in startable outside of byes/injuries. I usually gamble with upside but with assets this valuable I'll take the sure fire stud and give up a little bit of bonus points.

@lilpuppy99 That's kind of what I was thinking but he did manage to make me an offer I at least had to consider. I did win it all for the second time in three years with pretty much this same team aside from last years rookies so maybe I should just stick with what has already worked? Although I'd really like to get my hands on Hopkins now before it's too late.

@MEuRaH, haha and you just hit the nail on the head on exactly why I'm having a hard time with this. The other guy knows I have Gordon in team 1 of my sig and he knows that I like to match up my star players if at all possible. So that's 1-1, I'm pretty much going to let the board decide if I make this trade or not. lol...

I would take Gordon side because Hopkins is way better than what you are giving up with AJG.
It is a bit of a risky move but if you believe in Gordon (and I do) seems like you get 2 starting players for one with the possibility of no drop-off from AJG-Gordon

Then you'll be keeping AJG. This board has a boner for AJG and he's nearly priceless according to most.

The difference between 3.0 & 3.07 is bigger than DeAndre Hopkins? I don't think so, but I know I'll be in the minority.

It's actually 3-2 for AJG, but it's only been 20 minutes.

I think all of us FFB junkies have a boner for AJG and rightfully so but I definitely get what your saying. I'm known for being aggressive when it comes to taking risks and going with my gut but even with an offer this tempting it's tuff to give up a proven player like AJG which is why I'm glad I found this website.

Give me the Gordon side. Gordon and AJG are damn near equal, but Nuk>>>Nicks. And I'm not even a big Nuk fan.

I think I'd go the Gordon side, but it really depends on your tolerance for risk. I made big moves last year to acquire both Gordon and Green. Love both of them, just think Hopkins would be enough to make me want to gamble.

Side note, as an AJG owner, I loathe that noodle arm ginger he has throwing him the ball, but is anyone else concerned about them moving on from Dalton after this year.I believe AJ is as QB proof as anyone, but they wont be bad enough to get any form of an elite prospect to play the position, and it will just be another gamble on starting over with a new QB in what will be his age 27 season. Just something to think about

@PitchingATrent, really solid point and good for a laugh too. Lol... I definitely think there are worse QB's in the league than "The Red Rifle" but I can only imagine what AJG could do with a good QB? Obviously the same can be said about Gordon who's had even worse QB's to work with in his short time so far in the NFL.
