Well, I was actually targetting Wheaton here, but there were still a few prospects around that I'd have spent a first-rounder on. I went with the "safest" choice. His short-term value may be a bit muddy as long as Gresham is still around, but Eifert has all the tools and the work ethic to develop into one of the best TE options, and he comes without any injury/character red flags, which is a big plus to me.
Some are holding against him that he "fell" till pick 21, but post-draft there were plenty of reports of teams that were strongly considering him much earlier, but went on to adress a more urgent need with their pick.
