hernandez value

was offered aaron hernandez for ben tate. should I take it?

12 team salary cap ppr league, no contract length. salary raises each year based on performance. $400 cap. Hernandez only $12, Tate only $9.

This seems like a high upside move, but I am worried Tate will leave HOU after this year for a starting gig. Can he be a starter outside of a zone blocking scheme team?

I wouldn't hate this deal, but based on Hernandez dropping in value so much I would either try to give something besides Tate or get more than Hernandez back. Your team is in a good spot at TE, so taking a flyer on Hernandez isn't a terrible idea because you don't really need him.

That being said I would hold off for now. Hernandez owners looking to sell are going to get more desperate the longer this goes on. I'd definitely point out some of the recent Hernandez trades and really push how his value has dropped. If he really wants to move him I could certainly see him settling for less if you wait.

My other question is what would Hernandez's cost be if his numbers are non existent this year due to a suspension? If he misses all of 2013 even and is back for 2014 on a cheaper deal he could at worst be a valuable trade chip next year.

if he misses 2013 his salary would stay at $12. if i knew he'd miss 2013 but would be back to normal in 2014 - id do the deal. i dont need tate this year, he is purely a speculative play based on his potential relocation during free agency next year.
