Trade dilemna - help!

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade dilemna - help!

Postby cjharney » Sat Oct 20, 2012 6:33 am

Team 1 in Sig. I've been offered a first round 2014 pick for Ridley and Vereen. Should I take it? Here's my dilemna:

(a) Since I prefer to start three RBs, Im a little worried about trading away Ridley right now and hurting my chances of winning it all if my top rb's go down with injuries (I won last year and I think Im clearly the top team again this year). With McFadden, Peterson, and Gore - it's not out of the realm of possibility that all three were to get injured. That would leave me starting Sproles, S-Jax/Stewart if I were to trade Ridley.

(b) each team has to drop five players at the end of the year (or just have 5 open roster spots for the draft picks), so If I don't make a trade involving some players off of my team, I am going to have to drop a few pretty good players/prospects without getting anything in return. Without trading Vereen and Ridley Im likely dropping the following players: Jenkins, Vereen, Blount, Cousins, Baldwin. By making the trade I avoid dropping Vereen without getting anything back, and I'd also be able to keep one of those five - likely baldwin or cousins.

So in essense, the trade is really a 2014 pick and baldwin/cousins FOR Ridley and Vereen. What do people think? Is it worth the risk or should I just keep Ridley, try to win this year, and just deal with having to drop those five without a return? The prize money is $900 for the champ - in case that affects anyone's advice.

Why would you want a lottery ticket draft pick when you already have a young, solid RB2?

I wouldn't do the trade.

You should be able to get more than a 1st rounder, almost 2 years away.
