I just made a series of trades in my Team three in sig and I'm curious how people think I did. I'm generally happy -but curious if there is room for debate.
Essentially I gave up off of my original team: RGIII, D. Thomas, Pitta, Turbin, a 2014 2nd, 2014 3rd and 2014 4th
And I got in return: Eli Manning, Nicks, a 2013 1st, Three 2014 first's, and a 2014 4th.
First Trade
I traded Pitta and D. Thomas FOR Nicks
Second Trade
I traded Turbin and a 2014 3rd FOR a 2014 First and Fourth (I'm pretty happy about this one)
Third Trade
I traded RGIII and a 2014 2nd FOR Eli Manning, Reggie Bush, and a 2014 First
Fourth Trade
I traded Reggie Bush and a 2014 fourth FOR a 2013 1st and 2014 1st.
Thoughts? Is my team/future better?

Re: RGIII Trade and more
Your future definitely looks brighter. I'd make sure you use what you've obtained to acquire A LOT of RB talent. Your pretty thin in that department. Upgrading your TE spot wouldn't hurt either.

Yes I agree that your team/roster is much better. But I also agree that you need to focus on RB's in the draft because your team could use them. Good luck.

Re: RGIII Trade and more
The only trade I like out of the first 4 was your 2nd trade. Don't like that last trade at all either. Good luck on flipping Turner.

Re: RGIII Trade and more
I guess my point is trades 3 and 4 are kind of rebuild moves. Then your last trade goes back in the opposite direction where you give two young guys for a couple of rb's on their last legs.
Bush for 2 1sts isn't bad but you have to wait a year and a half to use one of them. It doesn't carry the same value to me.
Really the only trade I completely scratch my head on is the last one. All the others are calculated moves where I can at least see why you might do them, even of I don't agree with it. Anyway good luck.

Re: RGIII Trade and more
Fair points, but I think some of the big picture is being missed.
What I believe i accomplished is rebuilding (in a sense) while at the same time making my team very competitive for the rest of this year - not an easy feat. My team is barely out of the playoffs right now, and that was with D. Martin, Stewart, and A. Green as my current top three RBs. By flipping Griffen for Manning - I didnt lose that much for this year (manning top 6) or the future (manning has rouhgly 6-7 years left), especially when you factor in the future missed games for Griffen. Then, I shored up my RBs by getting running backs that are currently producing at an RB1/RB2 level (its worth noting this is an RB starved league with 12 teams and all teams starting 2-3 rbs). McGahee, in particular will probably give me another year or two on top of this year. Turner, is all but done - but there are plenty of teams in my league that will pay top dollar for him, Im working on a trade or two right now. Even if I dont flip him, I can now give my team a chance to win this year - and will have four first rounders on top of that for the future.
As far as giving up Hill and Crabtree, with Nicks, Maclin, Green and Williams on my team - and only needing to start two wideouts, I could afford that loss. Hill is sill a crapshoot, and Crabtree is doing better this year, but the guy has had a few years to live up to his potential and still hasnt. I feel like its very possible that I traded both at the top of their value.
The more important part of this trade is the four first round draft picks. I don't have to wait a year and a half for the 2014 draft picks, because its very unlikely I'll actually draft with them. With my team 1 in sig, I used this same strategy to build that team. I accumulate first round draft picks - often two years out, because certain owners (no offense but you appear to be one of them) devalue these first rounders, then flip first rounders to teams out of it for proven players. Once the year shapes up and the haves and have nots are well defined, I'll start shopping my first rounders, and I'll do the same in the offseason and next year. There aren't many RB's in the league that a rebuilding team won't trade for two first rounders and a borderline prospect sitting on your bench, same goes for stud wrs. Essentially, I take the first rounders from teams that undervalue them, and trade them to rebuilding teams that greatly value them. Or, I can just load up on RB talent in 2014, just in time to replace McGahee and Turner (and hopefully Martin is producing and D. Williams is out of Car).

Re: RGIII Trade and more
Well you know your league better than anyone else. I wish you luck. My opinions are based on How I and my other league members value players. Every league is different though. I own Turner in one league and I guarantee I couldn't get a 2nd rounder from any of the other 15 members of the league. I also think Manning producing at a QB1 for 6-7 years and McGahee/Turner producing RB2 numbers for 2-3 years is very optimistic. I will say its got to be fun wheeling and dealing as much as you do. Again, good luck.

Re: RGIII Trade and more
Don't get your arm out of the socket trying to pat yourself on the back too much. I'd be willing to bet your last trade was with a newby. There is no way, an experienced dynasty-leager would give up a 1st plus, for Turner right now. But hey, kudos to you, on improving your team. You appear to be a very active owner. Good luck to you (although it looks like you don't need too much more luck ).cjharney wrote:Update - Flipped Michael Turner for Heath Miller and a 2014 First Rounder. Man I'm good.
