FA Auction Tomorrow

Postby feartheturtle7 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:08 pm

12 Team. PPR. Salary Cap $400. Expands to $420 during season. Offseason salary floor is $300 (so most you can bring to auction is $100). Yearly player raises by performance. No contracts. 3 Taxi Spots. 20 man active roster. Start: 1QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, DEF. Slow auction, 24 hr clock.

My Roster (current starter bold):

QB: Stafford $21, Ponder $2
RB: Chris Johnson $94.88, Ryan Mathews $75.90, Roy Helu $14, Ben Tate $9
WR: Julio Jones $41.80, De. Thomas $3, Greg Little $13, Titus Young $4.50, Hankerson $4, Cribbs $1
TE: Brandon Pettigrew $12.75
K: Henerey $2, Nugent $1
DEF: Bears $4

Taxi Squad: Weeden $2, David Wilson $22, Kendall Wright $12

Cap Available: $95.97

Every team except 2 have over $90 to spend.

Key Free Agents:
QB: Schaub, Palmer, Freeman
RB: Adrian Peterson, Best, S. Jackson, M. Turner, Gore, Hillis, J. Stewart, F. Jones
WR: Fitzgerald, Marshall, Crabtree, Miles Austin, Meachem
TE: Gonzalez, Gates

My first thought was to go all out on Fitzgerald and then try to get another RB like Hills, Stewart, Gore, etc.

Here are some of the prices from last yr: (Ocho $28, Bush $16, Wayene $54, Brees $56, Gore $65, MJD $77, Peyton $50, Cutler $35, Benson $34, Brady $56, Jordy $21...)

I would estimate that AP, and Fitzgerald each go in the range of $70-$80. Would it be smarter to target several guys like Crabtree, Meachem, and J. Stewart or go all out for that one stud?

Any thoughts or ideas on how to approach the auction?

if I was you I would nominate J. Stew early while people are spending on AP, FItz, Bmarsh.
then pick up best available WR after you win J. Stew.
J. Stew could be great for you in 2013 and a decent flex in 2012 IMO.
I think your approach of all out on Fitz is not a bad idea either... your team doesn't need much more to get over the hump.
I think Hillis could be a good value in PPR and will get more touches than people think.

After 2 hrs, Stewart is already bid up to $49 (yikes)....Fitz is currently at $51.

I used my 1 nomination today on Hillis. Maybe I can sneak him early.
