My team 3:
An orphan joined the league today and wants to mingle. He took over a big contending team and wants my Bucky and 1.01

His initial offer is:
I get Stroud (who I want), 1.10, Wicks and Shipley
I give Bucky, 1.01, Noah Gray and Wentz (he has mahomes)

I declined and thinking how to counter this to make us both happy. These mega deals are always tough for me.

I was thinking about countering something like
I get Stroud, 1.10, Wicks and Benson
I give Bucky, 1.03, Gray and Wentz
So I am downgrading the 1.01 to the 1.03 and upgrading Shipley to Benson. If he wants 1.01 for Jeanty not sure how it’ll pan out

That counter feels counterproductive. Benson is a massive addition on his end and you then drop from 1.01 to 1.03 (is a huge drop off)...

Maybe drop Bucky and 1.10 and add 2.09 and be willing to pay 2.01? Or offer 2.01 from the jump to build goodwill for the future. Or keep your side as he/she requested and swap out Shipley for Benson as you thought about in your counter?

Key for me is that Stroud is worth 1.01+ in Superflex still. So you trying to use only 1.03 would be a non-starter for me.

stroud for 1.01 and bucky is pretty fair. if you dont wanna give 2 rbs maybe offer 1.01 and 1.11 +wentz for just stroud

If you're willing to offer packages like these, I think you can do better than Stroud.

While I like Stroud, you have to acknowledge that he was a low end QB2 last season. Still young, but I did have a lot of concerns about him as a prospect coming out. He surprised me with a tremendous rookie season but came back to earth this past year. He doesn't get much with his legs so he will have to continue to progress as a passer. Fortunately, he's in a cake division which helps but it's not enough for me.

All that said, I'm not paying 1.01 for Stroud straight up in a 12 team format.... definitely would in a 14+ but not in a 12 team. I think your counter is pretty solid but I would personally hold as you will have a pretty nice backfield with Jeanty and Bucky (and maybe add another RB at 1.03 if you don't go QB).

Yeah I’m really thinking I’m gonna stand pat. I think my current build is better for me since stroud isn’t gonna make me compete right away anyways.
Jeanty and Ward could be big for my first two and then take BPA with my other 4 top 20 picks.

I wouldn't include the 1.01, like the 1.03 counter. Maybe target a Nix or other young QB? Somebody you feel is undervalued? I assume there are NO QBS on the WW. I'd take Jeanty with the 1.01 but see if you can get a QB for the 1.03?
