What should I do with this team?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What should I do with this team?

Postby WOATjohn » Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:29 pm

I am a pretty shitty team and not sure what to do. I know I know, trade Tyreek, but he has no value right now.
SF, TEP, start 10
QB: Jayden Daniels, CJ Stroud, JJ McCarthy
RB: none worth a mention
WR: BTJ, Hill, Dell (I love his upside), Jeudy, Doubs, Legette, QJ
TE: Gray, Sanders, Washington
1.02, 1.10, 2.02, 2.10, 3.02, 4.02

I have an offer for Josh Jacobs (who I like and feel like is a true buy low at his value) for 2.02, 3.02 and 4.02. It seems cheap but I’d have to buy a 26 year old RB if I’m not competing

UPDATE
I accepted 1.03 for JJM and 3.02

QB: Jayden Daniels, CJ Stroud
RB: none worth a mention
WR: BTJ, Hill, Dell (I love his upside), Jeudy, Doubs, Legette, QJ
TE: Gray, Sanders, Washington
1.02, 1.03, 1.10, 2.02, 2.10, 4.02

love the deal but it won't help you much with that team

With deal, it looks like the worst thing you’re losing is the 2.02. I know you COULD get a nice player at 3.02, but hit rates are low there and this is supposed to be a weaker class. You should be able to sell Jacobs just before season for more, but that has to be your intent if you get him.

Your team is set for a long while at QB, but only has BTJ after that. You need to add as much talent as you can, but it won’t happen this season. Selling Jacobs (if you get him) and Hill to start the season will get you some 2026 picks. You also could choose your least favorite QB and look to down-tier him while adding draft capital then as well.

With your team, I wouldn't trade draft picks for players, you won't be competing this year. Sit tight and draft well and hope to compete next year. You have some nice pieces to build around and fortunately you don't need to chase QBs in this year's draft.

Well your set a qb, a potential stud wr in BTJ, and a few other serviceable wrs. So you need rbs a te and wr depth. As far as the Jacobs deal I'd want to see the NFL draft, who lands where before making any moves. To me it's a very cheap price for a workhorse rb who you potentially flip in season. Hill im looking to move in season after a big game or two, right now he has a much lower value. Keep thinking long term. Good luck.

It's unpopular and, IMO, the way to go with so many holes: both Daniels and BTJ are at about peak value. They're the one's to trade -- both of them. The haul you'll get in (an insane amount of draft picks, multiple quality players, or some combo of both) can't be beat.

In a rebuild, it's really about acquiring value. You can get $1.50 for each of Daniels and BTJ. Similarly, it seems like the cost to get Jacobs is about $0.75. That's absolutely a buy price for me with the realistic chance of flipping for more. The value is simply there. I'd guess that come Week 1 you might be able to get a 2026 or 2027 1st for him. Or at least multiple 2nds.

Put JJ & Stroud on the trade block & see if any interest. Same with Hill. 1 of those QB alone could land you solid early pick(s) or a good RB/WR combo. BTJ & Jeudy is a good start to WR.
Draft RB at 1.02, TE at 1.10(I like Sanders & Gray, especially if Kecle retires. But grab a potential rookie stud), & if you don't trade for Jacobs, BPA at 2.02. Depending on league, you may be able to get a QB at 2.10 to have 3 QB's. Stay the course & don't trade for $0.75 on the dollar.

It's not a terrible offer. Does give you 3 top 10 picks to rebuild. Do they need a WR? Could you counter & offer a WR/2.10 instead?
Would allow you to go RB/RB/TE with 1.02, 1.03, & 1.10. Then maybe a QB at 2.10. With RB/WR deep this year, can get a couple of good sleeper rookies to see how they pan out with 3.02, 3.03, & 4.02.
If they won't budge, give it some thought. Still would have Jayden & CJ, who you know are healthy & good. I believe in JJ, especially with KOC as the HC, but we have yet to seen him play.

Whatever you do for picks, know that it's mostly RBs in this draft. The WR class is weak and thin (IMO) as well as the QBs. TEs are a nice class. But this year's draft is all about the RBs.
D3:
QB—Allen, Carr, Darnold, JJM, Rattler RB—Gibbs, Kamara, Ford, Lloyd, Mason, Laube WR—Lamb, Nabers, MHJ, DJM, MWilson, JBaker, Cooks, Boutte, Atwell, Patrick TE—Engram, Jonnu, Muth, Theo, Strange PK—Ryland DEF—BAL, CHI

QB—TLaw, Darnold, MJones, AOC, Rattler RB—Bijan, Kamara, Conner, Mason, Benson, McLaughlin, Estime, Badie WR—Jefferson, Odunze, Deebo, DAdams, KAllen, Tolbert, Boutte, Corley TE—Kelce, Ertz, Gray,Theo, Fant PK—Butker, McM DEF—CHI, LVR

Superflex 1:
QB—Mahomes, Mayfield, Rodgers, Rattler RB—Bijan, Kamara, BRob, Allgeier, Estime, Hill WR—Chase, Devonta, DJM, Aiyuk, Jakobi, Iosivas, JBaker, Lockett, Corley TE—Kraft, Engram, Kelce, Sanders, Theo PK—Reichard DEF—CHI, MIA

Something like JJ/2.10 for 1.03/pick (later than they initially offered) could be a good deal for both. They may be waiting to see if Jones signs as a starter. It could happen, but AOC & Watson are more than likely non-factors this year.

I like the value of acquiring Jacobs here even though I agree with you about 26-year old RB. I would take the deal. You add another RB with 1.02 and either TE Warren or another RB with 1.10 (or maybe Egbuka/Burton/etc if they are off the board). Team could shape up quickly. If you aren't feeling it by mid-season, I bet you can flip Jacobs for a 1st+ which would be worth 2.02/3.02/4.02 from my perspective.

Aso, I'm doing the "1.03 and 3.03 for JJM and 2.02" deal if you don't do the Jacobs deal. Adding 2 young RBs or RB/WR with 1.02/1.03 would be too tempting for me. We still don't know if JJM will be decent or a complete bust. MIN may still sign a QB also.
