Bucking the trend

Postby NathanielWegman » Tue Feb 11, 2025 11:57 am

12 team SF PPR 1.5TEP startup
1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 SF, 2 Flex, 1 K, 1 Team Def

First 11 picks were QB..I picked at #12 and wanted to break the run on QBs

I went BiJan & Chase

Top 11 were;
Daniels
Lamar
Allen
Burrow
Mahomes
Hurts
Caleb
AR
Stroud
Herbert
Love

I didn’t like any QBs at this point…I think I started a run on WR/RB/TE hopefully as Saquon & Jefferson were the next 2 picks

In the 3-4 turn around, I’m hoping some guys like Maye, Dak, Purdy, TLaw are still there

Or should I continue hammering out skill positions..grab a couple placeholder QBs?

I have the 1.3 rookie draft pick, but it’s a snake this year only so I wouldn’t pick again until 2.10

I love this, and would 100% do the same. If Herbert was there I would have taken him, but 11 QBs off the board is quite a lot. Def keep an eye on the QBs at the 3-4 turn, but as it stands now, I love the idea of leaning further into your strategy and hammering out the skill positions. Then plug in Dereck Carr / Sam Darnold and call it day. Your skill positions are going to put up big points.

I wouldn’t reach at the next turn because you went RB/WR, but QBs aren’t usually any cheaper than during a startup. I would make sure I got one promising young one next time you’re up.

You NEED to get atleast one, and preferably two, QBs at the turn. If any of the guys you listed are still on the board, I’d take them there. Two of them, if possible. Not sure what Nix’s ADP is right now, but I’d add him to the list of targets as well.

Currently at pick 3.8

Top QB options available,
TLaw
Baker
Goff
Purdy
Dak

Tua
Penix
Darnold (I don’t trust him)
Bryce Young

Others of note:
Trey McBride
JTaylor
James Cook
AJB
Higgins
London
JSN

My initial plan was to target Maye & 1 of TLaw or Purdy..but Maye was just picked

Should I double dip at QB here? Or grab my preferred QB and snag McBride or a WR?

I can hopefully grab Penix in the next few rounds if I don’t double dip here

I like Purdy and TLaw here. I could argue Baker as well. London, JSN, and AJB are all tempting, but you really need at minimum two starting QBs. Personally, I’d double dip at QB.

I would love to add TMC, Higgins, or JSN. Higgins is primetime baby, and I sense some massive seasons upcoming (my current fav buy).
Of the remaining QBs, Baker, Goff, and Purdy are my fav. I'm lower on QB than most tho. While everyone else inflates QB value, I'll take the drop on skill position players. Carr / Darnold can fill in for you IMO while the rest of your roster smashes.

I may be a bit biased since I am all in on him but I would have had trouble not taking Maye at the 1/2 turn. I have him ahead of a few of the guys that went in the first 11 picks. Bummer he was grabbed right before your next pick.

I think TLaw is a good pick here now that he has Coen in Duvalllllll. McBride is also a very solid pick given the premium. He’s a beast in this format and isn’t going anywhere for a very long time.

Grab your favorite QB and go with McBride in the TEP. Essentially, lean into your strategy! Looks like some more QBs will fall, but I'd want an anchor.

It was definitely the shocker of the draft so far…but the guy they done it has a fairly consistent track record of winning..so we will see if it pays off (but most likely backfires lol)

AJB, London, & Goff are off the board.

I think I’ll snag 1 QB here..only 4 teams have 2 QBs so I’m likely to miss out on the top tier, but I can get an under value veteran..and pair with a rookie QB maybe (plus I’ll attempt to snag JJM in a couple rounds)

I usually fade TE and go older at the position..but Bowers being the only one gone leaving McBride, if he don’t go at 3.11, I’m gonna snag him. Giving me a top option at RB/WR/TE

I usually build around QBs but I had to buck the trend lol

I'd definitely take a QB here, probably two. I think there will be some TEP options later—LaPorta, Hock, Kraft, etc.
D3:
QB—Allen, Carr, Darnold, JJM, Rattler RB—Gibbs, Kamara, Ford, Lloyd, Mason, Laube WR—Lamb, Nabers, MHJ, DJM, MWilson, JBaker, Cooks, Boutte, Atwell, Patrick TE—Engram, Jonnu, Muth, Theo, Strange PK—Ryland DEF—BAL, CHI

D4:
QB—TLaw, Darnold, MJones, AOC, Rattler RB—Bijan, Kamara, Conner, Mason, Benson, McLaughlin, Estime, Badie WR—Jefferson, Odunze, Deebo, DAdams, KAllen, Tolbert, Boutte, Corley TE—Kelce, Ertz, Gray,Theo, Fant PK—Butker, McM DEF—CHI, LVR

Superflex 1:
QB—Mahomes, Mayfield, Rodgers, Rattler RB—Bijan, Kamara, BRob, Allgeier, Estime, Hill WR—Chase, Devonta, DJM, Aiyuk, Jakobi, Iosivas, JBaker, Lockett, Corley TE—Kraft, Engram, Kelce, Sanders, Theo PK—Reichard DEF—CHI, MIA

Superflex 2:
QB: Maye, Goff, Penix, Tua, Hill RB: Bijan, BRob, Javonte, Allgeier, McLaughlin, Zamir, Rodriguez WR: BTJ, MHJ, Odunze, DJM, Polk, Theilan, Boutte, MWilliams, NBrown, Patrick, Shepard TE: Kraft, Theo, Musgrave, Ertz, Parkinson

I stuck to my initial strategy and went 2 QBs at the 3-4 turn

I felt more comfortable missing out on McBride and having 2 solid QBs due to guys like Hock, Kraft being available most likely over the next few rounds.

I’ve got quite a ways to go..

But just curious how these WRs would rank
Devonta Smith
Higgins
McLaurin
JSN
G Wilson
Rashee
DJM
Rome
Flowers
DK
Worthy

G Wilson, Rashee, Rome, Higgins, JSN

Terry, DJM

D Smith, Flowers, DK, Worthy

These are the general tiers I would put them in. I didn’t spend a lot of time setting the order within the tiers, since I didn’t see that as particularly valuable in this situation. I could also be persuaded that Higgins and/or JSN should be dropped a tier down.
