Wright or Lloyd

Postby Menace2010 » Wed May 22, 2024 5:41 pm

Debating these two rookie Running Backs and wanted to get others perspectives. I can see Wright filling the Mostert role next season, so had been leaning his way, but the more I dig the more I see Lloyd being ranked over him in a lot of places and obviously 3rd round draft capital means something.

Who would you take (poll)? And why? If you have time to leave a few thoughts.

I think Lloyd is the better back so I voted Lloyd.

Neither one of these guys profiles as fantasy difference makers, and it's possible with next year's class they both lose their back-up/potential starting roles. :eh:

I prefer Wright, as he is more explosive, and 2 years younger than Lloyd.

I think this is correct. The odds of guys hitting with their type of draft capital is low.

Frankly I think the FF community might be overreacting to the Wright selection in particular. Achane has taken a sizable hit and I struggle to understand that. Seems to me it's more likely that Wright is either irrelevant or eats in to Mostert. Achane was probably overvalued so maybe a ding was in order anyway.

Wright. Lloyd has to deal with Jacobs who is more formidable than Mostert. Lloyd fumbles a lot. I agree Lloyd is the better back, but he has bigger obstacles to overcome than Wright. They are close.

Wright for me as you can see in my sig. I don’t think with is much more than a deep shot at a fill in RB but Lloyd is honestly not a good runner of the ball. I watched a ton of USC ball and then watched a ton of his film because I knew he would be available where I had picks. I don’t know if it’s his vision or decision making or both but he constantly looked off massive holes and tried to make his own elsewhere. It never made sense. Explosive player with some big plays but I don’t see him ever being more than a COP back that fumbles more than he should.

I actually see Wright as someone that can carry a workload and he’s an athletic freak. There is definitely the argument that he benefited from empty boxes with Tennessee running such a spread out offense but he can only run against what defenses throw at him. Miami is also the perfect fit for his run style the same way it was for Achane. Mostert making it through 17 was a miracle and quite frankly I’m not even close to convinced that Achane has the ability to stay healthy. He’s just not built to carry a load and he sort of already proved that. Wright had 7.4 ypc and showed he has the receiving ability as well last season at Tennessee. There’s a very non zero chance that Wright is the only healthy back in Miami at some point this season and I really want a piece of that if it does happen.

I like Wright cause Lloyd fumbles, and if either one is able to actually take advantage of opportunity, I think we’ll see it with Wright way sooner than Lloyd. Lloyd may never get an opportunity

Oh yeah, I forgot about Lloyd's fumbling issues, which Packers think they can correct.
10 total fumbles in the past 3 years, on less than 300 total carries is concerning.

Nothing benches you faster in the NFL than fumbling.
