Did I mess up my draft??

1QB 14 Team Half PPR Start 7

I had been discussing a trade that would get me into the top 3 to get Odunze who I am very high on. It came down to crunch time and we ended up with what I thought was a fair deal for both sides.

Gave: 1.06 (Brooks) + 1.07 (BTJ) + 3.06 (McMillan)
Got: 1.03 (Odunze) + 1.13 (Caleb) + 1.14 (Pearsall)

I also still had my 1.04 and 2.04. Originally, I was targeting Bowers at 1.04, Brooks at 6 and BTJ at 7. I started to feel off about BTJ as he feels like he has plenty of bust potential. I loved Brooks but saw it as the cost of tiering BTJ up to Odunze who I like so much more. Funny side note, this deal was only made with a promise by me that I would not take Brooks at 4, otherwise I honestly may have.

The other owner did get Brooks and BTJ at those picks I sent them. I got Odunze at 3, Bowers at 4 then Caleb Williams fell to me at 1.13 so I took him there and then took Pearsall at 1.14.

I felt really good about how everything shook out but I ask because I got some heat from a few leaguemates telling me that I made a big mistake with this move. That doesn’t bother me. I’m more just curious if the general public sees it the same way or if my leaguemates’ values are just off (which tends to happen often). Thoughts?

In a start 7, give me the best asset which is Odunze. BTJ most likely never going to crack your lineup. If you were thin at RB, maybe its closer but you're fine there.

BTJ = Pearsall - BTj is the hotter name but they’re similar in terms of athleticism and draft capital
Caleb >>>>> McMillian - 14 team league with low amount of starters makes qbs much more valuable even in a 1 qb league

I didn’t even think of this/notice it was this shallow. 14 team Start 7 Caleb would be my 1.05 after bowers.
Such an extra premium on qb and te when they’re 1/7 of the lineup, could argue bowers over odunze, glad you weren’t able to take Brooks, that would’ve been a mistake IMO.

I agree for sure. I just meant based on the current values based on how these prospects are looked at in the community. I think my league undervalues QBs a bit. They tend to draft for need over value and they really only take a shot on one if they really need one. The 1st round of this draft was dominated by teams that felt they were completely set at QB so I’ll gladly take Caleb falling to 13. The trade can easily turn out several different ways but I was trying to gauge whether the move seemed right for my specific team and the overall value.

I agree with this. Sometimes the overwhelming consensus on rookie picks is just dead wrong

The other owner felt the depth of the draft fell off completely right around the 1.09-1.10 in 1QB. I was fine letting him think that. I thought for sure he was going to ask for my 2.04 back on my end but he never did.

RBs are very tough in the league. They are hoarded. Especially the elite young ones. Odunze to the bears made him really sour on his 1.03 for some reason and he was all in on Brooks as the top RB in the draft. I think that’s where his mindset was when making the trade. Give 1 top end pick and 2 low quality (in his mind) picks for 2 high end picks.
