"Upside" in general but "tremendous upside". Seriously, upside is something you feel, not quantifiable, stop using the word "upside".

this is more what some fantasy players call them rather than they call themselves i guess but im totally tired of hearing these writers referred to as "experts". wtf makes them more expert than a guy thats been doing dynasty leagues for years? i think a bunch of ppl on this site are as good or better than the lot of them.

45 catches for 561 yards and 6 TD's in 12 GP is hardly a turd. 48 grabs for 548 yards and 2 TD's in 10 games isn't either. Dez and A Robs first years weren't earth shattering, but there was plenty there to suggest that the next step up was coming.Dynasty DeLorean wrote:Brandon Marshall (1-year turd), Dez Bryant (1 year turd), Demaryius Thomas (2-year turd), Roddy White (2-year turd), Jordy Nelson (3-year turd). Possibly Allen Robinson depending on how the rest of his career turns out. I'm sure there is an even longer list but those are just the names off the top of my head.schiewerma21 wrote:In general.... the yearly overhyped young WRs who are zeros. Just because you were a first round pick doesn't mean your not a zero. And every year clowns put these guys as top 25-30 startup picks. It's absolute insanity. I want to know outside of dez and dt back in 2011.... someone give me an example since there (so 5 years now) of a high pick who was a turd as a rookie actually working out. Cause I can't think of one. And if you can, there are countless example of turds over guys who are actually good that it doesn't make sense to overvalue the crap out of these young WRs every offseason.

Re: Terms you wish fantasy writers would stop using so often
I tried to find a good thread to put this in, and though it's not really something I wish writers would stop using; it is something I wish people would use correctly.
See, having "tread on your tires" is a good thing. It means you'll be able to drive on them for a while. In terms of our dynasty assets, we all want that, right? It's a good thing.
So how come so many people describe players as having "a lot of tread on their tires" when obviously what they really mean is "they've got a lot of wear" or "wear-and-tear" or "mileage"? Those are bad things as far as our dynasty assets are concerned. We do not want that.

If we are just talking about 1st round WRs we are talking about a list that if we don't count last year that list is Tavon, CPatt, AJ Jenkins, Michael Floyd, Jon Baldwin, and I suppose Blackmon though he had the best rookie season of any of these being discussed and his problems had less to do with on field play. Not exactly a huge sample size and a couple of those "failures" are still producing for their NFL teams.
Going back though, Michael Crabtree, Calvin Johnson, Jordy Nelson, Fitz wasnt exactly great as a rookie, there are a few.

Yeah, it's an old thread. I know what you mean, can we just get a new word for prospects that come around every 5-10 years? Like obviously some guys will stand out over other prospects in other draft classes (Chase, Bijan, MHJ, etc.) But generational should be reserved for guys like Luck, Manning, Bedard, Ohtani.
