Hey dude, if this deal isn't fair in a vacuum, I'm not interested. I'm not obligated to give you a discount because my roster is strong.
I always just flip this logic back on them. Only problem is when their entire team sucks, in which case I just tell them I'm not interested in anyone on it

You know it's a great offer if they have to spend a lot of time trying to convince you that it is. Ha.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Right? Live by the sword, die by the sword. I hate guys who say they love this calc or that but then when I point out a trade in their favor say, "Oh but not like that. No. Pass." WTH dude, either go with your gut or use a calc, just let me know what language you speak.

1. The Fair Guy—easy to deal with, nice, trades are always fair, we both win/lose.
2. The Card Shark—no matter what trade we do, he always seems to win.
3. The Oblivious One—doesn't pay attention, no idea on value, hates calculators, overdrafts, homer, high risk/reward.
4. The Bad Trade Guy—offers nothing but bad trades, way off, really bad. Impossible to trade with.
5. The Hobbyist Sucker—you can trade with this guy, always shoots himself in the foot, if you can get to him first.
6. The Overpay—the only way he'll trade is if you REALLY overpay him. He'll do it, but it'll cost.
Which one are you?
Number 7. Thee OVERPAYER ... if I want a guy then I'll give extra to close the deal
LOL that's also me. I'll overpay if it means I get my guy. Happy to give three 50-cents pieces for a dollar.

Before offering a trade I try to put myself mentally in the mindset of the other owner basically I try to imagine myself as the owner owner of that team and surmise what he would think his weaknesses are and what kind of offer I’d take to make a deal if I owned that team. It doesn’t always work (most guys don’t even look at their trade offers in my leagues for whatever reason) but nobody walks away dissatisfied when it does

As long as you don't try too hard selling how your offer is the "right thing" for their team to do. That is often off putting. Present it and then wait for the response

No. I just try to put myself in the other owners position and think about what kind of offer might entice me to take it most of the time it doesn’t work but at least I try to consider their needs and match them up with any strengths I might have on my roster

Trading CAN be a pain. To minimize the pain I do a few things.

1. Don't send blind trades. Always start off with a conversation "Would you be open to moving this player?" or " any interest in this player?"
I'm not gonna waste time trying to convince someone in a deal they're not interested in

2. Be reasonable. understand that you might not be able to move or get a player/pick for what you think they're worth.

3. Be Transparent. I always try to be as candid with my values as I can. It's way easier to get a deal done when both parties aren't playing games.

4. Understanding your league mates. There are some guys that I won't even reach out to unless there is a particular pick or player I'm looking at. Sometimes it's just not worth trying.

Im not gonna say that this fixes all issues when it comes to trading, but it can for sure minimize some of the pains
