What to do at 1.01 & 1.03 in SF

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What to do at 1.01 & 1.03 in SF

Postby pmart33 » Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:38 am

Team 2 in signature is entering year 2 of a rebuild in a 12 team PPR SF TE Prem (1.75) league. I have 1.01 & 1.03 this year and 9 future 1sts and some 2nds between 2025 & 2026.

The question is how to handle 1.01 & 1.03 this year. Right now I've honed in on MHJ, Nabers and Caleb Williams (no particular order) as the top 3 guys. The way my team is built I have 2 QBs I'm happy with, and have some young upside WRs but want to make sure I get at least one of MHJ & Nabers. The manager drafting in between me at 1.02 is probably going QB if Williams is there, as Mahomes is the only QB on his roster. The top 20 or so QBs are spread out among the teams, so no one team has a 3rd QB that is anything more than a marginal starter at best.

Scenarios:

1 - Draft MHJ at 1.01 & Nabers at 1.03
Keep hammering WR and fill my team with young talented ones in a PPR format

2- Draft Williams at 1.01 & which ever WR is left (probably Nabers)
Add the top QB prospect in the class to be my QB3 as well as a WR who would probably be the consensus top WR in most other classes

3- Draft Williams at 1.01 & try and hold him over the 1.02 Manager's head.
See if he will pay a premium for Williams. Hope he takes another QB at 1.02 and leaves MHJ for me at 1.03. But worst case he takes MHJ and I end up in scenario 2 with Williams and Nabers which is a fine spot to be in.

all thoughts are welcomed.

I don't think you're set at QB so I'll choose option 2 over option 3.

Still a long way from contending, think I get both wrs and lock that down for a decade, I see them more bust proof than Williams.

In a rebuild -- and say it with me!! :) -- draft for value. That's it.

IMO, that's unquestionably Williams at 1.01. You have lots of time (and future picks) to build out a roster for need when you get to that point.

(If that's not convincing enough, the fact that you start only 2 WRs drops their value, and the fact that both your QBs have high risk injury profiles ups your need there.)

Give SF and TEP, I'd go your top QB at 1.1 (as AR is still unknown essentially) and at 1.3 either grab the top WR available or since TEP 1.75 Bowers. Or trade down from 1.3 if you can
Dynasty 10 Team Full PPR SF (Team BlowItUp)1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/1 Flex/1 Superflex

TE- Andrews

Dynasty 14 Team 1/2 PPR (Team Punt) 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/2Flex
QB Burrow, Watson
RB- Bijan and garbage
WR- Rice,Higgins, C. Watson, garbage
TE- McBride

This is a very easy answer for me. You draft Williams at 1 and whichever WR is left for you at 3. Zero thought needed

Put this in the “don’t over think it” category. CW and then either MJH or Nabers at 1.03

It’s either draft CW or trade the pick for me. Personally I’d shop the pick and the qbs on your roster to see if anyone wants to overpay for the pick or Kyler, or pay market value for Richardson because I want out on him at market value or anything close to it…

At the end of they day I’m fine holding all 3 qbs since this isn’t a contender yet, have a year to move one before you’re ready to compete next year hopefully.
