Personally, I think the odds of Nabers being better than MHJ are better than the odds that Odunze is better than Nabers.
Of course, anything is possible, Puka Nacua showed us that last year.

Kind of happy that I will get all 3 in one of my 12 team SF TEP rookie drafts.
I have a solid, top 2 QB room, and need a lot of help at WR, and have picks 1.02/1.03/1.04, and I know that Caleb will be the 1.01.
Sweet. How exciting.
It is exciting, I need a LOT of help at WR, since we can start up to 6 WR's (3 WR/3 Flex), and basically London is my only starter right now.
I'm pretty much locked in to MHJ/Nabers at 1.02/1.03, Odunze at 1.04 is the question. Is that too early? Should I trade back?

Will find out in 13 days!!
Draft starts at 7 PM on April 27th!!

I also have picks 1.08 and 1.12, maybe grab 2 more WR's there.
I already have four 1sts in 2025, so I can get my RB's then.

The memory is so strong, I thought he was more recent. The pain of a terrible pick lingers long.
I thought I was going crazy reading that post. Like, who was this highly touted Corey Davis guy? Certainly it’s not the Corey Davis from nearly 10 years ago lmao

With the landing spots, Nabers or Odunze ?
I thought sell Pickens to have Nabers in 1 dynasty (with some others picks like 3rd), but now with Nabers to Giants, i don’t know what to do. Maybe wait Odunze come to me.
So, Nabers or Odunze ?

I don't like either landing spot to be honest.
I think MHJ got the best landing spot by far.

That said, I still have to go Nabers over Odunze.

Tough landing spots for both. Nabers seemingly got Garrett Wilson’s but at least should produce a solid year 1. Odunze is likely the long-term strategy given his connection with Caleb and rumored chemistry they already have. Naturally we should temper expectations on Rome given the crowded room. If you’re looking to compete the Nabers is the bet as of now but if you’re looking to play the long game, then I trust the top 10 selection tied with a potential top 5 dynasty qb.

Year 1-3 Nabers
Year 4+ Odunze

Nabers will get the attention now, not nearly as much competition. But Odunze will eventually become the 1B to DJM's 1A and get his. May just have to be patient. Allen won't be around in 2-3 years.

I'm happy this thread exists because this has been my brain in a nutshell over the past 6 months. I just watched all targets/receptions of these two players and have been reading all the takes on them. I have been pro Odunze for the past year or so, so many wow moments for me on his film, not that Nabers doesn't have those. That said, I'm leaning heavily on Odunze over Nabers at the moment. A few things that come to mind...

Odunze
  • A true X, and can line up all over the field
  • Shreds press coverage
  • Physically imposing/contested catch guru (Adams/Hopkins level)
  • Good YAC
  • Excellent hands
  • Prototypical WR build
  • Good character
  • Locked into playing with Caleb Williams and chemistry is apparent, and will learn from two great WR's
  • Player Comp: If Davante Adams and DeAndre Hopkins had a baby
Nabers
  • Bonified slot WR
  • Incredible agility/speed (Tyreek like)
  • YPRR monster
  • LSU's all time receiving leader!
  • YAC Monster
  • Struggles with press coverage
  • Benefited greatly from deep slot targets
  • ~30% of production against safeties/linebackers
  • Modern WR build
  • Questionable character (arrested for bringing a gun to Mardi gras, made a bet publically known at NFL level...)
  • Locked into playing with whoever New York rolls out on Sundays, which is not looking great...will not have a great mentor WR in New York, and is in a huge market with lots of distractions
  • Player Comp: If Tyreek Hill and Percy Harvin had a baby
My Take: Personally, I think these two are close, but I much prefer Odunze stylistically and feel he has a higher floor/higher ceiling and zero off-field concerns. I'm excited for them both, but man, Odunze checks so many boxes for me.

The bet thing isn’t even news. That was before they went to their rookie education training. I’m sure little wagers like this have been happening between two players since the dawn of time.

People may discount the landing spot but the Giants have t even come close to having a WR Alpha like this since…. Well another LSU WR. If Nabers were to excel in NY would that change your mind? I’m a Bears fan and excited to have Odunze too but I would trade him tomorrow straight up for Nabers in real life.

Regardless everything you said about Odunze is definitely spot on. Most everything you said about Nabers was accurate too.

I hope both have incredible careers!

Time will tell. I am firmly in Team Nabers camp, but wound up with 3 shares of Nabers and 2 shares of Odunze, so we shall see.
Just as interesting to me is the next tier, Worthy, Brian Thomas Jr., and Ladd McConkey.
So far I have 1 share of each of them.

I'll start off by saying that I love Rome. Im a UW fan, he was an electric watch this past season. I think Nabers is a good mix between Chase and Jefferson in terms of playing style, not sure where you see Hill/Harvin.

I'm still taking Nabers over Odunze, while I loved Odunze in college, it wouldn't stun me if he ended up just having an OK career in the NFL.

Also, if we expect Odunze to be the long term play it would make sense to wait a season or 2 and just trade for him if you believe in the player that much, surely his value will go down from a top 5 rookie pick if it takes a bit before we see him reach his potential.

Landing spot wise NY kind of sucks, was hoping we'd see him in LA. But I'm still taking Nabers as I expect he'll be the next great Giant in the league.

No way MHJ falls to the WR3 of this draft class, behind Odunze.

Agree. I think they are all very good WRs and while I couldn't break down their differences from memory, from what I remember reading they have different skillsets and can all do very well in the NFL. So, whether you have it MHJ and then a gab to Nabers, with Odunze close behind, or some other formula, I think all three are great. Personally I think MHJ has the best situation right now, and that should remain solid. I think Nabers is possibly in the worst situation. I think Odunze has quite possibly the best QB and WR room but may be WR3 this year, moving to WR2, and eventually I think he could be WR1—or DJM and Odunze could be like Harrison Sr and Wayne with Manning, a 1A and 1B situation. Honestly I don't think you can lose with any of these guys.

Correction, we think all 3 are going to be great. Time will tell. I was all-in on a few of the guys that ended up busting hard (Treadwell, Corey Davis, Burks), sooooo always gotta beware that the prize in the box may not be as advertised once it hits the NFL field.

Let's not forget Corey Davis had a Prospect Grade of 6.70 and a PFF Grade of 91 "Elite," eerily similar to Odunze's profile (6.71 and 91).
I'll go back to aforementioned 2021 draft for a comparable draft with early fantasy WRs who "hit"
WR1: Chase was the guy who became the stud of the draft, predraft and post draft, he panned out.
WR2: Devonta lived up to the hype, even if he isn't a legit fantasy WR1 ... yet
WR3: Corey Davis was a big bust
WR4: Waddle is a lot like Devonta where he has a lot of hope/hype but is not a consistent fantasy WR1 ... yet.

So when we're looking at selling the farm for these 2024 rookies, what do we really think we're buying? Does anything think each of the top 3 rookie WRs are future fantasy WR1s? I don't, and history says it's probably not going to happen.

I remember Corey Davis going right before I chose Waddle in 2021. I was down about having to settle for Waddle. I had no idea how lucky I was.

But the point is, after three seasons, even the guys who "hit" (Devonta and Waddle) aren't really dominant stud fantasy receivers. Do we really think all three of the 2024 rookie WRs are going to be WR1s?

I won't predict MHJr will even be as good as Chase, much less be better. I'll put Nabers a smidge above Odunze, but I wouldn't be surprised to see someone else step up and be the rookie WR2 at the end of the season. Let's not get carried away predicting total stardom for all these guys.
Wait, how on earth did you make this entire post and not realize you were off by half a decade? 😂

I mean, I brain fart with the best of em - but thinking Corey Davis came in with Jamar Chase?!
