Tua & 2025 1st for B. Young & Olave

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Tua & 2025 1st for B. Young & Olave

Postby Mr. Reid » Sun Apr 14, 2024 2:06 pm

Curious everyone’s thoughts on this move. I won the SB with a lot of aging assets last year. I sold most of my old players for 2025 picks, but now I’m looking to make a move to secure another strong young WR. Looking ahead to next years class, it seems very strong at RB and thin at WR. Would you guys make this trade or is Young to risky?

I’d still have a lot of draft capital next year for the draft or potentially in season trades.

Give: Tua, 2.13 & 2025 1st (probably 1.8-1.14 range)
Receive: B. Young & Olave

Feedback appreciated, thanks!
14 Team SF (12 keepers)
1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1 SF 1Flex K Def

QB - Tua, Purdy
RB - Kamara, Montgomery, Gibson
WR - Chase, Lamb, Boyd
TE - Pitts

24 Picks - 2.13
25 Picks - (4) 1st rounders, (2) 2nd rounders, (2) 3rd rounders

Wow. This is a tough one.

BY looked bad but I don't know if that was him or the team. I'm leaning toward it being the team. And I'm on record as saying I'm a buyer this off-season. If you can stomach the risk, I think the value is on the BY/Olave side. But man is it risky!

As mentioned, I think the key factor here is 14 team sf. With one more bad year Young could easily become a Pickett, Lance, Fields, ZWilson, etc, etc.

Seems it should be something more like

Give: Tua, 25 2nd
Get: Young, Olave

Can't believe he's trying to get that 2.13 too lol

On value, I just don't see it. I'm low on Tua, but BY is too much risk for you to be adding a 1st on top to make this deal work. 2.13 and a future 2nd, I'd probably roll the dice. But it's a risky move.

Young is a bigger risk, but I think Tua is one as well. Olave is worth it to me.

I'd take Young/Olave.
Young's rookie season was very bad, but so was his offensive line, receivers, and coaches.

Personally, I like Young as a buy low this off-season.
Last year my 2 buy lows were Drake London and Kyler Murray.

That's all you got?
Tua is obviously a risk, or he would have a 2nd contract by now.
Tua was in the same draft class as Burrow and Herbert, they both got their 2nd contract last off-season.

Why didn't Tua? Because he has missed too many games in his career with injuries, specifically concussions.
So he played 1 full season. Dolphins obviously not comfortable enough to throw open the bank vault for him.

Led the league in passing yards....
Sure, cherry pick out 1 stat.
Ignore the fact that he hasn't even thrown for 30 TD's yet, as each Burrow and Herbert have done twice now in 4 years.

Yes, absolutely Tua is a risk.
Can he stay healthy more than 1 season?
How will he look once Tyreek Hill fades away?
