Leighton Vander Esch released by the Cowboys with a failed physical.

Really too bad that his neck injury will likely end what could have been a great career prematurely. He was a pretty solid player when he came into the league.

FantasyFreak wrote: Fri Mar 15, 2024 12:09 pm It still blows my mind that Fields was routinely going in the first round of Superflex startups last year. This was one of the easiest things to see coming, IMO. Such a terrible decision with your first pick.
Folks only saw fantasy stats, they didn't see the guy could barely throw and couldn't stack wins. Fantasy stats don't matter if you lose your job because the league is based on wins and wins alone.
I didn't think Fields would be a good NFL QB, and did see nice fantasy stats. Drafted him anyway. Then traded him when he started scoring a lot of fantasy points. He was worth the first round pick for me

Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Kenny pickett must have thrown one hell of a hissy fit to make the stealers give him away for nothing two years after giving up a 1st for him.

Or maybe they realized after two years that Tommy DeVito (a spot starter for half a year) had more multi-touchdown games than Pickett…

Honestly it seems more baffling that Philly, or anyone, would give up anything for Kenny

Pickett was/is uninspiring, but Pittsburgh did little to give him a real chance of developing.

Eagles talked to the Bears about Fields, before trading for Pickett. Could not come to an agreement on cost. The NFL is saying Fields is a backup at best.

I agree. Pickett isn’t a super star but can be a game manager or even more. He got 1 game without Canada and played really well. He’s an excellent backup qb with a chance to be a decent starter. Baker Mayfield looked twice as bad as Pickett at times and has come out the other side shining. Pickett can easily do the same.

Not sure if I agree with this. With Baker he has always shown flashes of upside… I don’t know if I ever seen a flash of upside from Pickett.

Yeah, fair enough. I just think it’s unfortunate he didn’t get a chance to show what he could do after Canada got canned.
