Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
I wonder if the Vikings already have a deal to move up to get their QB? Why make the Texans trade now, and not during the draft?
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
They have to. No other reason to do the trade.
It can't be Chicago and I don't think Washington feels great about Mariota and Jake Fromm. Maybe New England trades for Fields and it's Fields vs Brissett then New England trades down for two 1s this year, 1st next year, and then some?

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
My guess: Because a 2024 #23 offers trade partners more simple value than the pieces they cobbled to get it. If a trade partner wants to use #23 to accumulate picks, they can always do it, for the picks they want. If no trade partner is found, the Vikes are already positioned to take a lesser rookie QB like Pennix. Just my $.02
Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
IMO the Bears have made it a lot harder to justify taking MHJR at 1.01 over CW. CW is walking in to one of the best situations I can remember for an NFL 1.01 QB. Feels like night/day vs. what Bryce Young faced a year ago. It was already questionable to take a WR over CW but the moves the Bears have made make it even more so. I wouldn't fault anyone for pulling the trigger on MHJR, but it's probably not good business.
Must admit I am going to have massive FOMO if I end up w/o any shares of MHJR. I have the 1.01 in one league and will have to do some soul searching when it comes time to make the pick.

Agreed. They can get Odunze possibly at 1.09 too. Hard to say how this plays out. As crazy as this years FA has been, I think it carries over to the draft too. The first round is going to be exciting.tstafford wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:26 am IMO the Bears have made it a lot harder to justify taking MHJR at 1.01 over CW. Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
I think it’s likely they address a different position at 9 at this point. I wouldn’t fault them for taking Rome. It just seems like they could bolster the line or add to elite help to defense with that pick now that they have WR locked down.TheTroll wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:35 amAgreed. Very true. 1.09 is a luxury pick at this point. Could even trade back too.BabyChark23 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:17 amI think it’s likely they address a different position at 9 at this point. Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
I don't even think it's a conundrum at this point. If you're playing for the long-term, Caleb Williams is the easy choice in SF. Now, if you're playing for next season? Well, that's a tougher choice.tstafford wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:26 am IMO the Bears have made it a lot harder to justify taking MHJR at 1.01 over CW. Chicago is urgent and desperate. They absolutely can't afford to screw this up and they are moving like it. A lot of jobs are on the line and a lot of long-term value added to that franchise is up for grabs.
Marvin Harrison is great, but there will be more elite WRs who arriver to the NFL than QBs who are the caliber of Williams.

Right or wrong, MHJ dodging the entire combine and pro day process is a little concerning. Not to say he stinks, but hard to justify him at 1 anywwhre

I could give a flip about his performing in a tee and shorts. He’s put everything he needs to on game film, and plenty of it against a conference where they actually play D. I trust my eyes. 1.01 in everything but SF and even a consideration there IMO.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:54 am Right or wrong, MHJ dodging the entire combine and pro day process is a little concerning. Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread
They are taking Williams. 99% sure. I have the 1.01 in a 1 QB league and I'm taking Harrison. Made sure I'm getting at least one share. I also have the 1.02 in a Superflex, and honestly, I'm good with either player there. If 1.01 takes Harrison, it'll be fun to have a share of Williams in Chicago. If he takes Williams, then I'll have two shares of Harrison. All works.
Chicago has done a good job of setting Williams up to succeed.
At 9, most likely all three WRs are gone. But Odunze could fall, and if he does, I hope they take him. If all three are gone, I'd look to either LT or DE. Alt/Fashanu or Verse are what I'm thinking. I really do NOT want them to trade down. TAKE BLUE CHIP.
