Just curious why you think it's a positive for Herbert? During his tenure as Michigan HC he never really showcased the QB position and downplayed it over just grinding games out. Fantasy wise I'm having a hard time seeing the positive here.

He's a winning coach but not might be fantabulous for Fantasy. Time will tell but this was a good hire for the Chargers.

Why would people look at his college coaching tendencies when he has a NFL resume?

That said, when he coached SF he ran a run-first O that was among the leaders in rushing while was way down near the bottom in passing. The caveat is that he was saddled with pre-KC Alex Smith at first and then relentlessly incompetent passer Kaepernick as his QBs so that may have influenced how he set his system.

I do think he is a use-the-run-to-set-up-the-pass guy. That says a couple things to me when it comes to LA. One is that he’s going to be in the market for at least one and maybe 2 bigger RBs who are between the tackle maulers to establish his O. Corum or Allen would make great sense as draft picks for him and then getting a FA to help shoulder the load. Josh Kelley may fit in as his RB2 but Ekeler is not his kind of RB. Spiller could be if he could ever get the dump truck off his back, unlikely at best. IMO Harbaugh’s O could be very successful in the current NFL where D players are so much lighter in favor of speed. He’ll likely go straight at them with power. His RB1 could be a significant factor in FF.

As to Herbert, it could be a real mixed blessing. He’ll very likely get less opportunities, but he’ll be better protected by his running game and his opportunities could be a lot higher quality. He could see much improved ypa and success rate despite reduced attempts, meaning his performance could be solidly improved while taking less risk of punishment. I don’t think he can be a top 5 FF QB in this system, but I do see him very capable of a top 12 performance, maybe closer to QB6 than QB12.

This was exactly my thought when it came to Harbaugh in LA. They don't seem to have the RB's that he'd want to fit his system and it will almost certainly be something they address via FA and/or the draft.

With the news that a player like D'Onta Forman isn't likely to be back in Chicago, I wonder what Harbaugh would think of him as a (likely) cheap option as part of a rotation? Or maybe a guy like Mixon would fit the bill if Cincy doesn't want to bring him back. Or of course, as BB mentioned it might just make too much sense for Harbaugh to grab his buddy Corum to head to California with him!

But there may be opportunity to net some RB production for fantasy teams on this news. Bound to be some turnover at the position with the Chargers I'd think. I don't see him wanting Ekler back either.
