The above bolded has been said for the better part of a decade. If a team is willing to spend real money, they can do what they want in terms of cap.
This is the oldest roster in the league at an average age of 27.4 years. That's quite impressive in its own right, given the avenues available for consistently adding young talent year-on-year.
With one of the weakest SoS's this year (seriously, go look at it - it's been laughable) this is still just a 6-7 team in a talent-bereft NFC South. Their best case scenario in 2023 will be losing to a better team in the playoffs. Their likely path will be missing it, because that feels like a more plausible Derek Carr storyline.
And as you say - their likely best option to "make the bill work" is to bring all these same guys back. To what end?
Saints fans have no cause for optimism here. This team blows.
