Diggs for Waddle?

Postby Gazzerk » Fri Dec 08, 2023 9:10 pm

Recently asked a question around this situation. Thanks for the response Gator. You nailed it with your Waddle take. The other owner basically said he’d consider doing Waddle for Diggs straight up. He would not add and was going to ask for me to add but would settle for a straight trade. I am looking to try to contend again next season as I missed the playoffs when I really should have made it. Who is better for my team going forward? I would love to get a bit younger and Diggs’ value will only go down from here. Thoughts?

This is a fair swap, imho. Diggs is super valuable to a contender, but as soon as the season is over, the uncertainty will creep in. Waddle was comfortably > Diggs prior to the season, and still is ahead in value if you consult calculators.

I think Waddle still helps you contend more long term, but takes a back seat to Hill this season at least. Value will be with Waddle in the offseason due to age. I prefer Diggs now, but market value will shift in the offseason and the value play straight up is Waddle long term. He also does not crush your push now.

Thanks. This is all exactly why I was looking to make a move. I have zero need for Diggs as of now and prefer to lose out the rest of the season. I’m worried about what the off-season will bring with a 30 year old receiver. Sounds like I’m making a good move here so I’ve put it out there and hoping he accepts.

I would be contending next season but not this season. So sounds like you think Waddle in that case?

I would expect Diggs to be the superior fantasy WR in 2024 as well.

But after that, I think they’re even.

And in 4-5 years, it’s Waddle all day obviously

Pretty straight up deal right now. I guess if I had a gun to my head I would pick Diggs for win now mode but honestly can’t go wrong. The only issue I see is that MIA gets up big and then runs out the clock with their two backs where as if seems BUF is in a dog fight down to the last seconds of every match so you won’t see them resting their WRs.

Update: The other owner didn’t want to do it after the Tyreek injury and another bad Diggs week. I was pretty certain it was going to fall apart but he ended up accepting today after it looked likely Hill will probably be fine. He figured Waddle would be a league winner if Tyreek was going to miss multiple weeks. I’m very happy with the move as Diggs is starting to feel less and less bulletproof. Feels like his value could take a massive hit in the off season.
