How bad is the QB situation in the league when a guy like Ridder can hold a starting job? He badly missed Bijan on a wide open flare 2 yds past the LoS that was an easy TD and then next series telegraphs a screen that goes for an easy pick six. This isn’t a guy forced to start to fill in for an injury. He’s their chosen guy on a team loaded with O talent everywhere but QB.

It’s bad but there’s starter quality QBs that aren’t given a shot. Flacco shoulda been a starter, Minshew should be a starter, hell Carson Wentz should probably be a starter somewhere.

Mac Jones on a different team I could also see having success.

ATL bought into his professionalism at a young age and wanted to give him a shot.

Not the choice I'd make given his limited upside but is par for the course with many team's decision making.

Fact is there are probably a few QBs that could do better than 1/4th of the starters on practice squads but they'll never be given the chance.

If both Lance and Jimmy G don't get injured we probably never find out that Purdy is their best QB.. There's only one starting spot for every team and it's almost impossible to discern who could make it in live action during practice.

True, but you can see which guys can’t be successful when they play in real games. I’m not talking about a bad game or two (or a good game or two) but an extended resume. It’s pretty obvious that Ridder is the weak spot on the ATL O for instance.
