Do I pay the haul, and get LaPorta in a TEP format?

I figure that pick is likely to be the top RB in a bad class or the 3rd best WR (3 QBs probably early, MJH, plus Bowers & the WR2 whoever that ends up)

With IDP involved too, this seems a bit pricey. Downs had shown enough that he should carry a bit more value. I don't think it's awful as Waller and Dulcich have little value, just feels pricey. I would not question anyone making the deal. LaPorta has been a bit up and down lately but is still a great young piece in premium.

TEP is pretty vague and not all are created equal. Wish people would say what the actual TEP is in posts like this.

On the surface it feels like a lot. But if the TEP is like my leagues (2 ppr), LaPorta is currently averaging 18ppg. That’s pretty massive.

Totally fair - it’s 1.5PPR for TEs vs just PPR. But also, TEs get 1.5 points per 1st down. Other positions only get 1 point per 1st down.

So in essence, it’s almost like 2PPR

And to clarify, there is no IDP in this league. Offense only.

That’s what I was thinking, it may be worth it to just overpay and get the deal done.

It's a tough call. I think it's closer than folks are saying. I don't much care about Waller/Dulcich.

LaPorta is the real deal - guessing he's close to top-12 in total points amongst pass catchers in that format. Locking that up in TEP is nice and probably the safer play than Downs/1.07.

Wouldn't fault you for taking it. But I think once draft season comes around and you can put a name to the 1.07 this is going to feel like an overpay. In SF that pick is going to yield a very solid prospect - potentially even a first round NFL QB.

id prob do that. your team is better than your record indicates and i think this is a key piece you would like to spend that 1.07 on anyway. the rest is replaceable, bad tes you dont want and a solid young wr, can find those again no problem

One exercise that popped to mind: If LaPorta were in the 2024 rookie draft, where would he go? Obviously, if you wouldn't pick him until, say, 1.07 or later, then this is simply too much. But if you think even a top-5 pick, then paying Downs + Dulcich (I don't really value Waller that much) is a bit an overpay to get him but not much. And if you think he's a top-4 or even top-3 pick, then this value is pretty fair.

One other consideration: Anyone interesting on the waiver wire? If you have a couple of propsects that you've been eyeing and haven't had space for, then this deal becomes even more appealing since you're effectively getting back LaPorta + Prospect 1 + Player 1 / Prospect 2.

TL;DR. Not knowing any of those, I'd lean toward taking the deal. Chasing elite TEs is costly and elusive. But having one is a game-changer. LaPorta is in consideration for being one of those elite TEs.

With the state of TEs I think he's going to be a top five TE for a long time. Higher when Kelce retires. I was just asking about what you get back as that obviously opens up some slots on your team.
