JSN for Pittman

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

JSN for Pittman

Postby ZakHH » Wed Nov 22, 2023 11:33 am

10 team full PPR keeper league that will transition into a full dynasty this offseason.

Got this offer:

I trade away: Jaxon Smith-Njigba
I receive in return: Michael Pittman

Now, while I like Pittman, I would certainly value JSN higher from a dynasty POV.

However, by making this trade, I would free up a 4th round pick for the transition draft into dynasty next year. Because I'd lose my 4th for keeping JSN, but could keep Pittman for free. And as most top 5 round players will be kept, that pick projects to be in the top 10-15 range and would equal an early 2nd in rookie drafts.

Plus, I'm a contender this season, and JSN isn't really startable yet, while Pittman certainly is.

That's why I'm leaning towards accepting this one. What do you think?

I prefer Pittman now as a contender but even with all the factors in play, value is with JSN long term. Who are you starting now instead of Pittman if you don't make the deal.

We have mostly FLEX spots:
QB - RB - WR - TE - 2 FLEX (R/W) - 1 FLEX (R/W/T)

I have:
QB: J Allen, J Fields (and a problem in week 13, I know...)
RB: J Jacobs, R White, G Edwards
WR: A St. Brown, B Aiyuk, J Waddle, M Evans, J Meyers, J Reed, JSN
TE: T McBride, M Mayer, D Goedert

Amon-Ra and Aiyuk are set. So is Evans in most weeks.
This week, I'd start Pittman (vs TB) over Waddle (at NYJ).

The one thing I don't like about JSN is that we don't know who his QB and his head coach will be going forward. That wouldn't make me panic-sell him, but it's enough for me to consider this offer. That, as I said, would give me the equivalent of an early 2nd on top for free.

This trade helps you for this year but loses value down the road. If you think you are contending then do it!
