Cousins or Achane in a SF Dynasty League?

Been having a discussion with the Achane owner, he thinks his RB is worth more than Cousins. I have a hard time believing in a SF league that Achane would go before Cousins. Am I wrong here? If you were drafting a startup SF PPR Best Ball league tomorrow, who would you take first?

In my last startup, which was in 2022, Cousins went after the 1.8 rookie pick. IMO, with Cousins now having JJ and Addison, he has kept the same value depsite being a year or two older. Achane went early 2nd in all my rookie leagues last year. So I'm not so sure, anyone else have an opinion?

Sure, but he’s 35 and just tore his achilles. Is he even under contract after this season?

Achane went late in the rookie drafts, startups, but then went on to score 25ppg in the games he’s played

Achane is RB7 on KTC, ranked around RB5 in most ‘expert’ ranks. He has an elite ceiling. I think +90% of managers would take that over Cousins at this point

I think the issue is Cousins coming off a tough injury, aging and being undervalued in SF for years. Shinny new RBs are always over drafted in any format, especially over aging assets. Most managers want youth over anything else in dynasty.

Cousins would be a nice safe choice here, if he had not just sustained a potential career ending injury at age 35. Achane easily for me.

An additional small but key factor: this is a best ball league. Cousins has always been very, very good and underappreciated. But he doesn't have a ton of spike games. Not in best ball, his value is higher: you can start him happily as your QB2 or keep VERY happily as your QB3, and you'll get great points each week. In best ball, his low spike rate hurts him.

Achane, of course, profiles even better in a best ball league.

That’s what jumped out at me too. I think Achane is still worth more even in a managed league, but you could at least make a reasonable argument for Cousins. With the best ball setting, though, it’s Achane pretty easily.

It has to be Achane given Cousins' overall situation - age, injury and lack of a contract.

Frankly the lack of a contract is the biggest concern for me. Cousins has made over $230M in his career. He's also (IMO) been smart about the deals he does - all or nearly all the money guaranteed at the expense of the length of the deals. I could see a narrative where he hangs it up. Is he going to give a team a discount for the injury? Will a team he wants to go to pay full value? I'm not sure. I hope he's back because he is still one of the top-15 QBs in the NFL. But I'm nervous about having him on a FF roster right now.
