Another all in potential move

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Another all in potential move

Postby Gator Sens » Thu Oct 12, 2023 8:35 am

This is for the same team that I have added Tyreek Hill and Diggs too already this season. I am all in and pushing to repeat now. I have added some older players, but also have Lamb, Jefferson, and Lawrence to help build around long term.

I have the option to add Mostert for what seems like a fair price now, but struggling with it a bit long term. I do not value mid tier RBs much at all anymore with how the NFL rolls week to week and view them a bit year to year outside of the elite tier and top end young options. None of the pieces involved fit anywhere but in the year to year tier for me.

The offer is:

Give: Rhamondre Stevenson and Rashid Shaheed
Get: Raheem Mostert

This is my start 1 RB league, so I am not sure the deal is needed but Mostert seems like a solid RB for the next handful of weeks and if Achane's injury lingers, possibly into the fantasy playoffs.

12 team - start - 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, and 3 flex (non-SF)

Main build
QB: Lawrence, Prescott
RB: Jacobs, Kyren Williams, Stevenson
WR: Jefferson, Hill, Diggs, Lamb, Ridley, Jeudy
TE: Kittle, Njoku, Okonkwo

Thanks for the time and thoughts all!

Are you going to play Mostert over Jacobs? Jacobs looks like hes coming back to form and Stevenson hasn't been good yet but they will figure it out.
QB: Hurts, Stafford, Minshew, Mullins, Stidham
RB: Henry, Mixon, Walker III, Elliot, Herbert, Edwards, K.Mitchell, McLaughlin
WR: Jefferson, Kupp, Hill, Allen, London, J.Reed, C.Samuel, D. Robinson
TE: Engram, Likely

I think I stay. Mostert is interesting but only for the next couple of weeks… maybe. With Wilson back, he could easily take 50+% from him while Achane is out and then it’s a complete crapshoot. With Stevenson… well there’s no where else to go but up there!

All that said… I don’t dislike it either, if you would prefer to have Mostert. :-)

What's your record? I try to avoid trading for RBs until closer to playoff time due to the injury risk if I can avoid it.

No chance.

I'm not trading a better player for a lesser one for a possible two-week spike for a player who will likely be on your bench.

I am 3-2 currently. I am the highest scorer and have the most points against, so despite an okay record, I am a top team in my league. Totally get that thinking as well with RBs.

Potentially. Jacobs is getting going a bit, but Mostert is a better option as of now. I only start one RB a week because I don't trust any of them that I have.

And probably a better option moving forward than Mostert within the month.

theres absolutely nothing to suggest this as mostert is currently the rb2 of the nfl and the only guy threatening his workload (who was rb3 of the nfl) is now on IR. the patriots have 6 total TDs and 1 rushing score.

So you would make the deal Big Bawes? I am with you here, I am not sure Stevenson is a great option moving forward either.

I think that sometimes we need to no think about the players draft status, age, etc. Simply look at what's happening this year and Miami is a top offense and Mostert has been a big part of that. Stevenson and NE has been a complete mess this year. I'd like to think that NE will get the offense rolling at some point and it will be through Stevenson, but they haven't in 5 weeks so far. I'd go for it. Shaheed doesn't matter much here. Go for it for this year, you still have youth to build around and Jacobs should still have a few good years ahead of him. Good luck.

I agree with you 100%, believe it or not.

Thinking ahead to four weeks from now, though, I find two things hard to believe:

1) Mostert will continue producing at this level AND will remain healhty; and
2) Stevenson will continue producing at this level.

I get it: I could be wrong about both. But, I'd still rather bet on Stevenson at the end of the year and long-term than Mostert, whom I see more as a four-week spike play at best.
