Garret Wilson trade........ (5-0 Roster)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Garret Wilson trade........ (5-0 Roster)

Postby Cambrose619 » Tue Oct 10, 2023 2:07 pm

12 Man SF TE Prem League

SEND: Garret Wilson
RECEIVE: Christian Kirk + Tony Pollard

I know you're not supposed to make big trades/changes on a team that's 5-0 - more incremental improvements........and moving an asset like Garret Wilson usually doesn't end up well long term for the side moving them. Is this a trade you make....why or why not? I just moved my late 1st to bring in Josh Jacobs cause my RB situation was shaky at best.

I'm going to counter and ask for Pollard + Aiyuk (but not sure if he would bite) I don't own Aiyuk in a single league and would prefer Aiyuk over Kirk but I do think Kirk is underrated and think he'll be in Jacksonville till he retires. He and T-Law have a crush on each other. Back to the original trade though, do you make this move? Not close? Thanks!

ROSTER:
QB: J. Goff
RB:Bijan Robinson
RB:Josh Jacobs (Miles Sanders RB 3)
WR:Ja'Marr Chase
WR:CeeDee Lamb
WR:AmonRa St. Brown
TE:Evan Engram (Dalton Schultz TE2)
FLEX:Garret Wilson
FLEX:Terry McLaurin
FLEX:Tyler Lockett
FLEX:Elijah Moore
QB: Anthony Richardson (Baker Mayfield + Jimmy G)
10 man/2-QB League:

QB: R. Wilson, B. Mayfield, S. Darnold, P. Rivers
RB: Josh Jacobs, J. Mixon, P. Lindsay, David Johnson, James Conner, T. Cohen
WR: A. Cooper, OBJ, DJ Moore, JuJu, B. Cooks, R. Woods, T. Boyd, M. Williams, R. Anderson
TE: Engram, Herndon, R. Griffin, G. Olsen

Draft Picks: 2020 1st (x2), early 2020 2nd, early 2020 3rd, 2020 4th

I would rather hold. Pollard is going the wrong way and while he could rebound this season, he is also 26 and his value is likely to decrease either way. This was always going to be a tough year for Wilson once Rodgers went down, but he is still a solid long term asset and I don't think the return is good enough to make this deal even if pushing for a title.

With Aiyuk I can at least squint and see it... no guarantees Rodgers rebounds from an Achilles tear at 39 and Jets may be in QB purgatory.

With that roster I wouldn't do it. You have 3 stud WRs and Wilson is a perfect 4th.
QB: Hurts, Stafford, Minshew, Mullins, Stidham
RB: Henry, Mixon, Walker III, Elliot, Herbert, Edwards, K.Mitchell, McLaughlin
WR: Jefferson, Kupp, Hill, Allen, London, J.Reed, C.Samuel, D. Robinson
TE: Engram, Likely

I'd hold over the original deal.

The counter offer would be very interesting. Why not improve your chances this year and go for the title? Don't we all like Aiyuk better for 2023? Here's the thing though...I don't think the Aiyuk team would accept that? Unless it is a complete rebuilding team, which the OP didn't mention.
