Completely generic stadium design. Plus all the techie folks going to the game because it's trendy, necks craned down at their phones the whole time. Except now that a bunch of have been laid off they're not going to the game.

Kidding.

Sorta.
Candlestick felt much rowdier. So does the Seahawks stadium, which the Niners should've emulated. Techie's aren't loud apparently....

Candlestick was also *in* San Francisco. And old and dilapidated though it may have been, at least it had a vibe.

Levis Stadium is 40 miles south of San Francisco - in Santa Clara. That's like... an hour away, if there's no traffic - but there's always traffic.

Much has been written on this 1.3 billion dollar blunder of a stadium that nobody likes. Here's some of it from back when it was still fresh:

https://deadspin.com/the-49ers-stadium- ... 1803139723

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/death-of-s ... 05nx6.html

The fact that the stands are currently (reasonably) full in 2023 is a testament to the quality of the product on the field more than anything else. By all accounts the fan experience is pretty brutal - especially if you're caught on the sunny side on a hot day.

seahawks506 is right about the tech bros as well. That's the crowd that this stadium courts, and they're the only ones that can afford the tickets.

Sorry for the roster advice tilt, but honestly more general in nature regarding Kittle (since we’re watching him). Interested in ya’lls thoughts, if you were a serious contender this season, would you be comfortable rolling with Kittle? Or would you be looking to move Kittle + some depth piece like Kyren or similar for an Andrews or Hock? General Q if Kittle’s low volume/decent upside is enough to capture a ship if rest of squad is pretty solid/deep.

Goff.
agreed
Goff has a higher ceiling every week.
Another week, another round of Purdy haters.

300+ yards and 2 TDs, again for Purdy.

No love yet. Will there ever be?

So “workmanlike” impressive, he must be an incredibly smart guy, just simply/quickly reads coverage/field, and pulls trigger instantly with insane hit rate on correct read/decision, Almost like Shanny is playing in Purdy’s body.

I grew up in San Jose & have been many times to the amusement park that's next to Levi's stadium. I gotta read those articles. They screwed the pooch on many levels when they built it.

goff did better than that just last week.
i don't see why people saying he has a higher ceiling than purdy should be addressed as "haters". bang the drum on purdy all you like, i enjoy it, but the (general) overuse of the word "hater" is just stupid and doesn't help any kind of debate.

This. I like both fwiw and would rank them similarly. Purdy isn't without flaws. He's very smart and makes the right read a lot of the time. The offense he's working in is complex, so I give him credit for mastering it. He has great weapons around him that surely help his cause. How many screens or dump offs last night went for 20+ yards? How many batted balls should have been intercepted? How many times did he miss a guy deep? Those are the areas he struggles in, but that offense is a thing of beauty and I can't fault him for checking down and letting Deebo/CMC/Kittle do the dirty work. Purdy is a good point guard, but I don't see QB1 upside. He could be their QB long term though, and that's enough for me to have him ranked as a mid-high end QB2 in dynasty.

The 49ers have a lot of contracts that increase next year so will be interesting to see the build of this team over the next few years.

CMC 3 to 14M
Deebo 8 to 28M
Aiyuk 4 to 14M
Kittle 9 to 22M
Williams 13 to 32M
The defense has a lot of similar deals as well.

A lot of these guys already have dead money pushed out past their current contract also. Seeing a lot of dead money in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Unless I'm reading spotrac all wrong

It was mostly joking around. Obv not haters, you guys were giving a preference, and tbh it's understandable.

And the game starting at 5:15 local time on a Thursday probably didn’t help with filling seats.

any chance TNF gets binned?
one more game for redzone later part, one less bleep game to watch, no sleep deprivation affected friday (for europeans especially), less fans missing the game because of work schedules, no short weeks for players, no early lineup sketchy decisions.
seriously, who wants TNF? (the NFL, i know, but does it really make that much of a difference for their pockets?)
