12 team PPR SF

Sent: 24 2nd (mid) + Cedric Tillman

Received: Deebo Samuel

I wasn't involved but this went down in a 14 team 1QB league today:

Kupp + 24 2nd + 25 2nd for Lamar Jackson.

For some context, the team getting Lamar is an aging bunch trying to maximize the next couple of seasons and his QBs were Rodgers and Kyler.

Team 2 - 12tm PPR SuperFlex

Gave: G.Wilson + Rachaad White
Got: Gibbs + Aiyuk

A little nervous that I may have sold low on Wilson, but Gibbs is a ceiling play. Shooting for the moon

Superflex TE Premium.

FantasyFreak & I traded:

I gave Pitts
I got: Hockenson, 2024 3rd, 2025 3rd, 2025 4th

And I also traded:

2024 1st, 2024 2nd, 2025 2nd

I got: James Cook, Swift, Joshua Kelley, 2025 3rd (which I hope is pretty close in picks to my 2025 2nd)

I don't think the 2nd trade is that bad, especially if they needed RBs and the other owners tend to overvalue RBs. I personally wouldn't pay a late 1st for James Cook but I also don't think it's crazy to do that if you can't get a better RB with the pick. I also think Swift + Kelley + early '25 3rd is a fair value for late '24 2nd and late '25 2nd (although I grant that projecting picks 2 years out is far from certain). In a vacuum I wouldn't do this but there's definitely circumstances where I could see it.

This league has unique scoring where we see RBs score strongly relative to WRs. RBs get .75 points per first down, WRs get .25 points per first down. RBs also get a point per carry bonus that is tiered to their average yards per rush. WR ppr is tiered to their average yards per catch. I think Cook will nail plenty of first downs & have a high ypc. I already have 4 starting QBs in a superflex, 2 good TEs (Hock & Kmet), a deep WR stable, but my only RBs were Gibbs, Stevenson, and Dillon. Depth is king. We have deep benches so practically nothing on the waiver wire. The 2025 moveback could just be a couple of picks, not too worried about that. So if Cook fills a need, then my (hopefully late) first has been put to good use. And Swift & Kelley could be useful to me depending on how the season goes :).

I'm glad it's a trade that makes you stop & think though. Those are the best trades. In the same league I made one in May where i sent away Dobbins for a late 1st that was OTC with Flowers still there. I didn't know that dobbins would tear his achilles in week 1 but I did feel like he had a compromised body and would flame out of the league within 2 years while flowers would just be getting started.
