I'm Not Crazy. This is a Garbage Trade, Correct?

Was going to list rosters, etc... but I don't even think folks need to see them to agree here... Just know that one team is stacked and a contender and the other team isn't. The one thing the contender lacked was a QB, so... (QBs are 6 points for all TDs and it's 1/2 point PPR) The trade was:

Team 1 sends:
Geno Smith
Raheem Mostert
Jahan Dotson
2024 2nd round
2025 3rd round

Team 2 sends:

Jalen Hurts
2026 1st

It's as bad as it looks, right?

Is it a 1QB league? If so, still bad IMO, but I could see someone making the case that Dotson makes it worth it

It's bad, but I don't see this as looking like collusion bad or worth it's own thread on this forum levels of bad. Somebody obviously thinks Mostert is a bellcow in Miami this year (I disagree, but think he has fantasy value this year anyway). A lot of people really love Dotson. Geno might not finish much below Hurts this year in fantasy. Obviously Mostert is also very old and holds little dynasty value and Geno has very little job security after this year....so dynasty this is bad...I can understand the poor thought process though.

Looks like a 1 QB league. Doesn’t really seem bad at all. Agree that Hurts is the most valuable player and this feels like a 4 quarters for a dollar type trade but mathematically it seems reasonable.

Dotson is going for a late first now. He gets a mid QB in Geno back plus Mostert and the most valuable of the pick compensation (2024 2nd). All of that combined is worth as much or more than Hurts. The first is in 2026, meaning it shouldn’t be viewed as more valuable than a 2nd next year.

It’s certainly not the type of return I’d be looking for on Hurts but it’s not egregious. Feels more like you’re upset about the implication of a contender getting stronger.

I don't think it's bad at all.

In a 6-pt passing TD league, I'd drop Hurts' (and all running QBs') value. Running QBs are more important when it's 6 points for a rushing TD but 4, for instance, for a passing TD.

As for the picks, I'd *probably* rather have a 1st in 2026 than a 2nd in 2024 and a 3rd in 2025. Depending on where those picks are projected, though, they're sort of a wash.

I'd also probably rather have Hurts than Dotson. Again, depending on league settings, etc., in a 1-QB league, I think they're closer to each other than they are far apart. And Geno + Mostert certainly covers the gap.

I think this isn't exactly four quarters for a dollar. Rather, it's more like two 50-cent pieces for two 35-cent pieces, a dime, and a nickel. Doesn't seem so off to me.

(Granted, on the surface, I'd likely take Hurts + 2026 1st. But, depending on team situation and how they evaluate players, I couldn't really push back that much against this trade).

One note: I'm presuming this is a 1QB league. If it's SF or 2QB, that would change things for me...

(I'm also guessing the team that got Hurts is your main competition for the 'ship this year... Am I close with that or pretty far off?)

Fair enough in a 1QB to let it go. SF Hurts > all that stuff so the extra 1st would raise eyebrows, but it's also 3 years out.

As long as they have paid up their dues through 2026, I don't see an issue

No, we pay year by year but allow trading three drafts out... I joined awhile ago, but they insist they are a "gentlemen's league" so vetoing never happens unless obvious collusion, and trust that folks that trade out that far have an intent to stay in the league...

Dotson has plenty of upside and has a 1st round value rookie value. I could see some being mad but young upside WR's in 1 QB leagues are valuable so no issues on either side. I do like the Hurts side a little more.

Hurts and Geno will probably only be around 3 points apart this year on a per game basis when all is said and done. Eagles schedule isn't a cakewalk this season with only 3 gimme type games.
