Rookie Draft: On the clock at 1.05 and thinking about doing something dumb...

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rookie Draft: On the clock at 1.05 and thinking about doing something dumb...

Postby Avery » Thu Aug 24, 2023 5:33 pm

Team 2 below.

Sitting on the clock at 1.05 and will be back on at 1.10.

Draft so far is Robinson, Gibbs, JSN and Kincaid.

My next two guys are probably Addison and Flowers but see both their upside capped and having trouble deciding. Tried to trade up down and out of this pick but no packages were right.

Toying with the idea of weaving over to Richardson here and grabbing a next tier RB at 1.10 - Kendre Miller, Spears, Bigsby type.

I (think) I know the right answer is to grab a WR here, and we don't know what the future may hold, but I like upside picks I feel like Richardson and a potential starting RB in a year or two has more upside that an undersized WR.

Thoughts?

TE – D. Waller, C. Okonkwo, L. Thomas, J. Ferguson

Team 2: Dynasty Team: 12 Team, 0.5 PPR, QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex WR/RB/TE (Premium TE scoring: 1.5X receiving yards points)

I'd be thrilled to get Addy at 1.05. I think there's a good chance he has the best season of all the rookie WRs. And if that's the case his stock will go up.

I just see his ceiling capped but I am most likely overthinking it...

Depending on what you mean, I think you could be right. Tee Higggins' ceiling is capped by Chase. But he's got a ton of dynasty value. If Addy does what I expect him to in '23, you will be able to sell him for quite a bit if you choose to.

Valid. And agree that Higgins (although a very different player) is the obvious comparison as to what one would hope Addison is in terms of production/value.

Again, different player but Waddle is another comparison but thrives partially because of an offense Taylor made to his (and Hill's) skill sets.

Always draft talent. Forcing a pick on mediocre rb talent over high end wr talent rarely (if ever) pays off.

Agree. Just wondering if Richardson is the talent here with more upside than the WRs.
Again, I know I'm probably talking Addison, it's kinda an intellectual exercise...

Addison pretty easily for me. He is BPA and a solid prospect. Take the talent. Situations in the NFL change quickly.

I'm taking the wr of your choice here. I'm not a fan of ARich and think he will be a bust unless he can somehow learn to complete passes. He didn't look great against backups tonight.
