Was there any text indicating this was an "opening offer" or an attempt to get a deal done? In MFL, you can add comments in a trade offer.
I’d much rather get an email asking if I have an interest in dealing CMC than to get an offer that quite plainly cannot be considered anything than an overt insult.

That kind of offer would get a decline from me with no explanation and no intention of responding to any other offers. That way I don’t need to throw back the insult I’d be so sorely tempted to do. If you want to work with me on a trade don’t open by treating me like I have a room temperature IQ.

How does someone have the audacity to send that? Can you ask him, for me?
I know!?!? New league for me (just joined, it has been around for a while). I got CMC in a dispersal and, of course, put him on the block. That was the first offer I received. Here's what I wrote back to him (yesterday afternoon, no reply as of now):

"CMC and Robinson, to me, aren't even in the same stratosphere.

If that felt somewhat close to you, then we just might be far apart. And that's okay -- we'll have lots of time to trade in the future! If that was just an opening offer to get a conversation started, then I'll take a look at possibilities that would work on my end.

Just let me know: were those pretty fair in your eyes or just get-the-ball-rolling offers? I'm good either way!"
I have noticed a lot more of this in the past 2 seasons.
Guys throwing out ridiculous offers, and if you say anything to them they just reply: "It was just an opening offer, I am waiting for you to counter".

Previously, I would never counter a ridiculous offer, but seems like more and more the strategy is to open with a ridiculous offer.

(in a 32 team format)
Give: Pollard
Get: 2023 rookie pick #76, 2024 first-rounder from a contending team (so I'd project it to be in the # 22-32 range, so basically a very late second-rounder in smaller leagues) "because he's already 26"
3x teams in 32-team standard PPR + IDP leagues

It doesn't matter what we want. Once we get it, we want something else.

Hear hear on the bolded above.

You're a hell of a lot more tolerant than I am about this. I've taken to just decline these and if they follow up I just tell them "If that's all I can get for (x player), I would rather keep him on my team. I wish you well."

I own two businesses and I've noticed that the lowballing and unilateral price drops have become worse the past few years. People have become like little kids in a toy store - they want to get everything and give nothing. My latest experience was a guy who inquired after Elijah Moore - when I responded that I wanted a mid to late 1st, in pick range 1.8-1.10, he proceeded to offer a projected late '25 2nd.
I didn't even respond to that.
PSA - Haggling is NOT the same as negotiating.

I’m on the clock at 3.02 and a league mate DMs me and says ‘I really want this pick… sent you an offer’.

Checked my email… the offer was a 2024 late 4th for the 3.02.

Messaged the guy to ask if he was joking and he replies ‘Damn, not really… I thought it was a nice offer’

His logic was ‘picks go up in value over time - so that 4th next year will be equal value with this year’s 3rd by the time it rolls around’

I have no comments.

10 team superflex orphan that I recently took over. Put Josh Jacobs otb because I’m blowing up the team. I mentioned in the chat that he was on the block and that I was looking specifically for youth and picks. Moments later I get a proposal in my inbox:

I send Jacobs

I receive Aaron Jones + 2024 3rd + 2024 5th

Responded by saying I would be a complete idiot to move Jacobs for an RB who was 3 years older, and a couple of dart throw picks in a rebuild.

But honestly I don’t see how that offer is decent in any scenario. Unless GB RBs get bonuses.

———-
A few hours later, I received this gem from a different owner:

I send Jacobs + Rachaad White

I receive Kendre Miller + 2024 2nd+3rd+4th

I would absolutely be offering him your 4th for future 3rds, your 3rd for future 2nds, and your 2nd for future 1st.
By this guys logic, he should be offering his future 2nd for his current year 1st, a future 3rd for a this year 2nd, etc. See how he feels about the concept.

I literally laughed out loud when I read his reasoning. I’d be banking that for next year’s draft to use on him when you offer your 2025 2nd rounder for his 2024 1st.
