Bold takes from you.
#1 - i thought you were high on Kendre (who should've been available at the those picks) - but I also understand the desire to get into the top 4.
#2 - that's a tough pill to swallow. If it is 1.2 (phew!) but 1.1 would be tough. Granted I'm sure they made moves after your trade to make it the more favored 1.1 now.
#3 - nice reroll. I see equal careers long term, but at least you get the fancy new toy to play with.
Who'd you take at 1.4?
Thanks! Yeah, re. Addison - plenty of my thoughts on him in the Addison thread. I'm glad I got him.
I was high on Kendre when he was a back-of-the-2nd guy. Once he was up to the early 2nd/late 1st, that was pretty much paying full sticker on him - made me less excited to bet on a traits kind of pick for a middle of the road offense. I agree that he should be valued on the same level as Charb, but if I'm paying full price then I'm less excited.
My team is absolutely loaded, so the chance to get up into the top 4 for a true difference maker and try and stave off the forthcoming roster crunch was too juicy to not take. Classic 2-for-1 deal. It's an all-in year with a few rebuilders really starting to get scary in the rear-view mirror plus my primary rivals also gearing up, so I went all in on the skill position difference maker guys that I love - Gibbs at 1.04, JSN at 1.05. (I let Stroud drop to 1.06 to a contending team that has QB's but needs WR's; I was ok with this tactically as I don't feel it helped him this year, and next year I see scarier teams on the come-up)
The Gibbs vs. JSN debate was possibly the hardest one for "in a vacuum" that I've had to look at in a while. I was literally waking up on different days "today is a JSN day" "ok I'm back to Gibbs". In the end, I paid up to have both. That's my review of how good they both are.
And yeah, that pick hurt to give up in a sense - but the way I saw it, unless it was top 2, I wasn't going to get a player that could help me more than I think JSN will eventually help me. I had a similar offer a year ago with a 1st from the exact same team that I could have given up for Olave (I have his 1sts from a Tyreek blockbuster) and chose to hold it - and he promptly defied the odds and made the playoffs. His team is old, but still strong - he could have just run it back again with his Allen / Tyreek / D-Henry core (but getting his pick back to him has now officially kicked off his rebuild - that pick moving was part of an absurd 3-way draft-night Josh Allen mega-deal)
So this time I took the bird in the hand. I believe in JSN, and there's a chance he helps me later this season in a title run. He's not the same prospect MHJr is - but there's a chance he might produce on the same sort of level when it's all said and done.
