Am I a fool?

Postby Moizoos » Fri May 05, 2023 10:49 pm

Superflex Team 2 in Signature

I own the 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.08, 1.10 and have always been looking at RB, QB, QB, WR/RB, TE.

Up until the draft I'd planned on going
Bijan, Young, Stroud, Addison/Charbs, Mayer

Now I'm worried about not taking AR15, drafting either a WR or RB who isn't the #1 at the position on their own team, and drafting Kincaid instead of Mayer way too early. I've always considered Stroud the best QB in this draft but everyone seems to have two QBs going ahead of him now. I've tried to trade back to the 1.04 or 1.05 but they aren't interested. Would I be a fool to take

Bijan, Bryce, Stroud, Addison/Charbs, Kincaid?

Should Levis be considered at the 1.08 if he's there? I was so sure of these picks but now I'm second guessing everything.

IMO you have to take Richardson, it's just too much upside to pass on.

I'm not sure Kincaid is making it to 10. Why not see if you can move from 1.10 to 1.09 shouldn't take that much.

Given your current QBs I'd go Richardson and young.

I would take Bijan, AR and Young. Great mix of high floor (Young/Bijan), high ceiling (AR/Bijan). Let the rest of the draft come to you at 1.08 and see what's what. I like Stroud but couldn't take him over Young.

I also have Stroud as my QB1 and as such I'd take him over either of the others. Richardson is going to hold pretty high trade value, likely for at least a year, so I'd likely draft him at 1.03. Taking these two you'd secure the QB you like best (and who's the safest in my opinion) and the one with the most upside.

I don't think you can plan on who to take at 1.08 or 1.10. all you can do is build a board and adjust as the draft progresses. I also have the 1.08 in one of my leagues and have been debating on "reaching" for Kincaid. I have him ranked 9th on my board as of now, but as I've been thinking about his landing spot/draft capital and contemplating the Bills plans for him I've begun to salivate. I'll likely stick to my board and draft whichever of Flowers/Addison drops, but we'll see.

Bijan, AR, Young. Then you always take best available regardless of need. Always.
Team 1:
PPR--QB, RBx2, WRx3, TE, Superflex, Flex x2
QBs: Lawrence, Stafford, Geno, Hooker, Rush
RBs: Ekeler, Kamara, Achane, Elijah Mitchell, Dillon, Kelley, Moss, Jamaal Williams
WRs: Adams, Hopkins, Waddle, Kirk, JSN, Boyd, OBJ, Hyatt
TEs: Kelce, Hockenson, Taysom, Irv Smith

and then a few minor players and rookie stashed on taxi

With 2 QB picks, would grab Richardson and Stroud. If Levis still there 1.10, trade down or maybe get future first plus picks this year.

Now I'm worried about… drafting either a WR or RB who isn't the #1 at the position on their own team
People get worry way too much about this. It does not matter if you aren’t “the #1 at the position on your own team”. It matters if you get opportunity and if you are part of a good offense (e.g. Higgins, DeVonta Smith, Waddle, Tyler Locket, etc). Addison will be fine.

Check out two of the most recent articles on DLF

One is rookies most likely to bust and Richardson is listed first

The other is rookies destined to be overdrafted and Richardson is listed first again

Now look at the article of who landed in the best situations and see who is listed first.

Ya I can certainly see the arguments and hype for Richardson

My thinking is being raw, undeveloped, and relying on pure althleciesm doesn’t often to lead to good outcomes. Trying to learn on the job against NFL defenses is extremely difficult. I would much rather draft a polished product like Stroud. He already has a great understanding of the game, fundamentals, technique, and accuracy which will allow him to start learning how to beat NFL defenses

But that’s just me and I’m not trying to convince anybody, just sharing my thoughts. I don’t like spending high draft capital on a prospect with big bust potential. Would rather take safer players with higher floors early and swing for the fences with high ceiling low floor players with later picks

His hype and the fact everyone knows he is raw gives him great market insulation. Whereas if Stroud or Young come out of the gate and struggle they will lose value much sooner. Look at guys like Josh Rosen. Polished passers who struggle right away lose a ton of value. Same could be said for Darnold and Zach Wilson. ARs athleticism and his known lack of experience will give him more value for longer. It’s been mentioned many times but Lance still gets decent draft capital.

agree his bust factor is high. His overdraftedness is high. If I really needed a qb who could be a starter right away or have a higher floor I might pass on him for Young. But guys like this only come along once in a blue moon. You have to swing for the fences when you get the chance. There will always be another young andnstroud prospect next year. AR prospect types are rare.

Seems like a good way to go. Richardson or Stroud could be interchangeable depending on preference.
