Obviously I roster Lance on a team, but even with that said I don't think it's a bad deal to take a shot on his potential upside. I know he's a lightning rod these days for criticism. But looking at meineymoe's QB room, if he could land a starter out of the group it would be a big help behind Hurts. His WR group is just fine, and Williams has always been a boom/bust play. Doesn't feel like anything worth criticizing.

It's a buy low. The price was cheap.
If I were criticizing, it'd be obvious. I haven't concluded it's a bad or horrible trade, I'm still at the fact finding stage.

My questions about the trade have nothing to do with Lance's development, or that Purdy is locked in as the starter when he recovers. Lance won't have gameday opportunity to develop. At best, he's an NFL starter this year, and anything beyond depends on his development. My questions have nothing to do with my indifferent view of Williams as a fantasy asset.

I haven't concluded the team is his sig, so don't know what his QB and WR depth looks like. I believe he gave too much value for a non critical need, and arguing it's ok to give away value for a short term upside play that has a low probability of paying off isn't compelling at all.

I don't have a problem with Lance as a buy low and agree he has potential. But, he loses the buy low allure when so much value is given for him.
This is not for the team in my sig. Tannehill is my qb.
Here is a link to the team/league:
https://www42.myfantasyleague.com/2023/ ... =0001&O=07

Because of recent poor drafts, my stars aging out ( didn't move on soon enough following my last title), and other misfortune, I am not a contender, so trying the rebuilding route.

I see the 22 year old Lance as a buy low candidate, and am willing to move Williams since he'll be in his 30s by the time I turn the corner. Unfortunately, this was my first offer and it got snapped up right away, so I can agree that I could maybe have gotten him by taking one of the pieces out, especially since we have until our draft in August to cut down to 30.

QBs are crazy valuable in 16 team leagues. I wasn't that high on Lance coming out, but if he does get some starts, or even good press in training camp, I'll be able to flip him for more than I spent.

Thanks for the discussion! It's always helpful.

First off, congrats on winning twice! I love how the history of all league winners is displayed at the bottom.

Thanks for the link. It provides good context on the roster (Darnold one of the top QBs) and the league's trade history-
Golladay and 23 2nd for Minshew and Zaire Franklin
23 2nd for Brady
2022 1.10 and 23 2nd for Carr and 23 4th

I've given up value to get deals done, and I don't see this as an egregious overpay, though it's not one I would have done, even with the context. Alot will depend on Lance's development, unless you manage to flip Darnold+Lance to the Purdy owner.

Best of luck on the rebuild, hope you get great value for Adams and Stevenson.

Great trade. Late third round picks are worth essentially nothing. I’d definitely bet on the upside of Kamara…even if he misses 6 games this season (which is no guarantee).

That’s a big trade! 16 team SF, QBs must have massive value. I could see TLaw and 1.04 QB being tempting.

Team E

About to emerge from my rebuilding cocoon, I made a luxury trade

I sent the 1.09 and the 2.01 (14 team 1QB) for Mahomes

This is the most I’ve ever paid for a QB in a 1QB league, but I have a really good core of RBs and WRs, and lots of picks, so I felt it was a reasonable price to get the best passer on Earth on my team

I took over an orphan that had Justin Jefferson and a whole lot of not much else … I needed pieces.

Gave: Justin Jefferson
Received: D.K. Metcalf, D’Andre Smith, 1.12, 2.02, and 2.05

I already have the 1.11 and 2.03 so I’ll have 5 of 7 picks in that span. My only QB is Daniel Jones so I’m hoping to get one of the three top rookies no real preference beggars can’t be choosy. If I could get Dalton Kincaid, Kendre Miller, and Jonathan Mingo I’d be thrilled.

Oof. I'd want more. At least a 24 1st. I've haven't seen Smith play, but Swift is being highly overrated with his new team. I think you got a couple dimes for a dollar, but hopefully there will be a buffalo nickel in there somewhere.

Gave 1.05

Received Mike Evans, Zay Jones, Devin Singletary, 4.08

Pretty sure this board is gonna look at this like 3 quarters for a dollar but I locked Bijan and gibbs up already and my other main WRs are all 2022 guys (London, Dotson, Wandale). I needed a vet. We all know these RB shelf lives aren’t long. Wanna see what I can do now
