Pullo Vision wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 7:52 pmI seem to recall Walker was a boom/bust on his runs last year. Perhaps it was too high variance.
He was indeed pretty boom/bust. When he was contacted at or behind the LOS, he was stuffed for 0 or negative yards on 51% of his carries-good for 55th out of 58 running backs.
Adding to that- he had 228 rush attempts, and 10 went for 20+ yards. Derrick Henry also had 10 of 20+, but took 349 to get there. Saquon got 9 in 295.

KW- 4.38% of runs went 20+ yards
DH- 2.86
SB- 3.05
The average of the top 8 RBs in 20+ yards- 3.68% (2090 runs for Chubb, Henry, Walker, Saquon, CMC, Pollard, Sanders, ETN, 77 runs of 20+).

So, he'd break a 20+, or get stuffed.
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I thought Trey Palmer would get rd 3 capital. Didn't think Tre Tucker would sneak in there.

I haven't moved Izzy or Roschon down below Achane (yet), but yeah I moved Achane up a bit over the likes of Spears and Charred

Forza_Azzurri wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 8:13 pm Looking at the overall RB landscape, this draft has sucked.

Bijan was going to be a stud, but his landing spot destroyed Algier.
Gibbs was also going to be very good regardless, but his landing spot hurts Montgomery & completely put Swift’s into the unknown.
Charbonnet hurts Walker’s value.
Bigsby hurts ETN’s value.

Miller probably ends up the biggest winner just based on landing spot given Kamara’s age & legal problems.
Spears is pretty irrelevant given Henry & all of Spears’ knee problems.
Archane is a good landing spot, but it would have been better if a more complete RB landed in Miami.
I think this is where I disagree. I mean, trade value, sure. I am not sure it hurts their production. Certainly not ETN IMO. I am a fan of both Walker and ETN, and if I can get them cheaper now, I am really down for that.
X2

It less about Charb and Bigsby hurting Walker/ETN and more about their own loss of value. Particularly Charb appeared poised to take over as RB1 or 1a immediately (Dameon Pierce type situ). Now he's at best in a timeshare and on the losing end of that. He'll eat in to Walker's upside I guess. He's not likely to get 30+ touches all that often. But do you really want that as a Walker owner?

I'm not all that concerned about ETN. JAX clearly wanted this type of tandem the whole time. What ETN owners need to hope for is more involvement in the passing game. Engram staying there probably hurt him more than Bigsby will. Bigsby is little threat in the passing game.

Related note: I am discounting the whole day two draft capital argument quite a bit. This draft was weak so players will get pushed up. I don't think we should read all that much in to guys going in the 3rd round.

Detroit has made some very good player personnel moves the past couple years. They are building a team the right way and very methodically.

It will be interesting to see if those in charge can make the right moves necessary to step up to true contender status.

This is the kind of year where I will be moving picks for established players when the opportunity presents itself. Bijan, Gibbs, the 3 QBs, JSN are probably the only guys I’m excited about. All of these deals with vets like Godwin types for a late 1st suddenly look a LOT more appealing.

The NFL also just doesn’t have enough great landing spots for every player to land a starting role as each class keeps feeding more and more talented prospects. I can see rookie drafts having a real premium at the top and then dropping off quite a bit in the mid to late 1st. The talent pool keeps growing while the opportunities keep drying up.

I wouldn't be pumping up achane that. He has a "good landing spot" but Miami still has mostert, one of the fastest rbs that can still seek contact. Achane is a lighter, younger version of him with only 3rd round capital. Once mostert and/or Wilson is gone Miami is just going to get another thumper.

This draft class is incredibly top heavy (especially in SF) then it drops a ton and then has a lot of similar players later on.

If I can't land one of bijan, Gibbs, jsn, young, stroud, or Richardson I want to move way back or out.

Is there ANYONE going today that could get in a spot where you go "maybe he's an end of the first guy?"

Like say Mixon gets released and the Bengals draft Roschon Johnson or Israel Abanikanda?

I dunno. This draft makes me sad. It isn't "well all the best guys are gone, do I take Bishop Sankey" like 2014 (Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Carlos Hyde, and Brandin Cooks were gone) but I feel dirty. I have 1.02, 1.04, and 1.05 in a league and after the first 6 or 7 spots, I feel like you can throw a dart at the rest and hope you get lucky.
