1.10 for 2024 1st and 2nd

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.10 for 2024 1st and 2nd

Postby smbkrypt24 » Fri Apr 14, 2023 5:21 am

12 team PPR. Start 1 QB.

Which side do you prefer:

2023 1.10, Hodgins, Thornton
or
2024 1.12, 2.12, Slayton, Mason

I am assigning the values at the 12th pick in 2024 because his team is loaded and won league this year, but I truly don't know. But I want it evaluated as if it is pick 12 next year since that is my expectation.

It's tough to imagine much from any of the pieces involved, so I would rather hold the 1.10+ here. It's the known better pick. I would keep shopping it though.

When you get up into the top 10-12 those 2-3 spots make a big difference. - more than is realized with the 2.12

1.10 > 2024 1.12. But I think I'd make the trade anyway.

I'm not enamored with pick 1.10 this year, and I'd be willing to gamble that somehow his team falls apart and his 2024 becomes a mid pick. I think you might be able to get something better than Slayton / Mason / 2.12, though, and I'm aim for a different secondary piece along with their 1st in 2024. But, push comes to shove, I'd be willing to take the current value loss for the unlikely upside.

*Exception: You know your league. On the clock, if 1.10 is likely to net you something better (e.g., a strong player or a likely higher pick), then you'll want to hold until then.

No trading while on the clock so unfortunately you get the players you select once the draft starts. You can trade the players post the draft, but often times that doesn't get you as much since you never know the player someone wants when they trade up for the pick

Trading a late (1.10-1.12) pick for a 1st and a 2nd next year is a classic trade for me. I'm doing that every time.

You can always trade the next year 2nd for in-season production this year.

And on top you get the extra 1st next year which you assume is 1.12.. if his QBs get hurt or a handful of players miss games you don't "know" what that pick will be. Always worth the gamble.

Yes, his team is strong everywhere but I agree an injury to his RB and TE and he is a middle of the pack team.
