Justin herbert for picks

Postby digger » Fri Feb 17, 2023 1:49 pm

Herbert for the 1.01, 1.07 and 2024 first (likely mid)

I won the championship last year. Could run it back but the ability to freshen up is tempting. What would you do for team below?
12 team Superflex 1/2 PPR (QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, 2RWT, 1SF, K, D)

QB: Justin Herbert
Superflex: Russ Wilson
RB1: Alvin Kamara
RB2: Jonathan Taylor
WR1: Tyreek Hill
WR2: Mike Evans
F1: Najee Harris
F2: Mike Williams
TE: Travis Kelce
K: Dicker
Dst: Jets

Bench
QBs: Daniel Jones, Davis Mills
RBs: joe Mixon, Brian Robinson, Rachaad White
WRs: DJ Moore, Jerry Jeudy, Calvin Ridley,
TEs: David Njoku, dalton Kincaid

Taxi- bell, Hyatt

Value is still with Herbert with the other two picks mid to late, but I don't think it's a terrible return but you will out on top QBs with both mid picks, which could hurt long term.

From a strict value standpoint give me the picks, but it's very likely you're going to end up hurting your team by doing this.

What I'd rather do is replace one of the non-1.01 picks with a qb

I'm the far out "other" voice on Herbert. I don't see some generational super talent who is untouchable. I see a very good qb with good arm talent, who is not invulnerable to situation and whose situation isn't necessarily all that great and/or locked in for a long time. In other words, for a guy who commands maximum asset value but I view as more-or-less replaceable, I think it's a great idea to see what you can get for him.

Now, the assets in this trade. The 1.01 is HUGE. Just take the best QB available and if you hit, chances are his fantasy production will be comparable to Herbert's in a year or so. Then you'll have this year's 1.07 and a 1st next year to add value to your team. Of course, all this depends on hitting your picks. But if you do, this trade has the potential to dramatically improve your team.

But again, this offer only appeals to people who do not see Herbert as a generational talent. I don't. I would not accept this offer for Mahomes. I would accept it for Herbert.

Picks for me in a landslide. The trade is basically Herbert for Bijan + 2024 1st + one of JSN/Addison/Gibbs/Levis/Richardson.

Honestly I think you could turn around and nearly, if not completely, replace Herbert by trading Bijan right after you draft him. Or trade the 1.07 + 2024 1st for as high as LJax and conservatively Dak or Watson.

This is what you roster could look like if you make the trade and then trade 2x1sts for Watson:

Watson, DJ, Russ
Bijan, JT, Najee, Kamara, Mixon, BRob, White
Tyreek, Evans, Jeudy, M Williams, DJ Moore, Ridley
Kelce, Njoku

And still have the 1.12, 2.12, 3.01, 3.12 to use to take shots on players or to bundle for a QB3 and another TE2 for depth, say like Geno/Purdy and Chig.

"If you hit on the picks"
"If you can make a trade for another QB"

Imo, you're creating a hole at the most difficult position to fix. As Anteaters posted, a lot depends on your view of Herbert. Consensus is that he's a top 8 QB. If you're on the lower end, or don't place a premium value on QBs, the trade will be appealing. If you're on the higher end, trading a top QB for lotto tickets doesn't have the same appeal.

I get you just won and may be bored now but I don’t understand trading an elite QB. If you want to blow it up trade everybody but him for picks. Hitting on these QBs are the hardest things to do. I just couldn’t do it

WR: Justin Jefferson, ARSB, Olave, Nico Collins, Malik Nabers, Tyquan Thornton, Marvin Mims, DeMario Douglas, Calvin Austin, DJ Chark,

Draft Picks
-3 25 1sts, 2 25 2nd, 3 25 3rds and 3 25 4ths

2022 Champions in full rebuild. Looking to contend again in 2025.
