Team Building 1QB

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Team Building 1QB

Postby dondickenson » Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:25 am

I am desperate to replace Brady on this win now roster, and my secondary need is RB2 type depth. How would you go about managing this off season to get a QB and RB?

12tm 1QB 0.5ppr 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/2FLEX

QB: Brady(RETIRED), Cousins, Howell
RB: CMC, Pollard, Hunt, Edwards-Helaire, Edwards, Warren, D'Ernest J, K Williams
WR: Jefferson, Chase, Waddle, Jeudy, Bateman, Ridley, Renfrow
TE: Andrews, Freiermuth, Okonkwo

PICKS:
2023 1.07, 2.10, 3.07
2024 1, 2, 4

CHAMPS: 2018, 2021, 2022

QB targets for trade are:

Team A - has TLaw and LJax.

Team B - has Hurts and Murray.
Team C - has Herbert, Dak, and Watson

First of all, I think you are good with Cousins and do not need to make a move necessarily since this is 1 QB format. That said, I like the idea of moving maybe a Jeudy type for Watson or Dak, depending on how much that owner values QBs. I'd pay 1.07/Howell for TLaw easily but I'm more bullish on QBs than others in 1 QB format. Jeudy/1.07 for Herbert would work too.

Your league is overvaluing QBs... Don't do the same. You're fine with cousins, if an opportunity comes to add a decent QB for a second rounder do so.

Echoing the others, you are fine with Cousins in the format and there is no reason to force a deal at QB. For RB2, I would shop Bateman and see if you can move high on Ridley hype if he is reinstated. Those two may give you an option on the RB market.

Adding an older back this early in the offseason is risky but most likely affordable. RBs are risky offseason investments pre free agency/rookie draft in general.

Elite QB scoring can be an advantage, even in 1QB leagues. How much of an advantage are your QB targets providing over Cousins? In a start 8, a 5-10 ppg advantage is worth considering, imo, as well as the advantage of not having to use future resources to address the position. I'd be willing to offer 1.07 and Cousins for Hurts and maybe you can get another piece back.

I think you go talk to the Murray owner and try to buy low on him and play this year out with Kirk. I rode Kirk to a title in 3 leagues last year. You’ll do just fine and Kirk had a down year last year. I expect him to have around 35 TDs this year as he usually does for us.

WR: Justin Jefferson, ARSB, Olave, Nico Collins, Malik Nabers, Tyquan Thornton, Marvin Mims, DeMario Douglas, Calvin Austin, DJ Chark,
