12 sf tep

I just won the chip but my team is a little old. Looking to get younger. Guy with 1.04, 1.09 1.11 and 1.12 (plus a handful of 2s) just asked what I want for CMC.

What’s a fair return on CMC?

CMC based on his possible production and upside, is worth an early 1st but based on age, that seems unlikely. I think the 1.09 is light but if you can get the 1.09 + a solid young asset, I think the value is there overall long term. CMC is always going to be tough to move because as long as he is healthy, he will produce. If you are hoping to make another run however, CMC is a hold even if after another run you age out and start to retool heading into 2024. You also may get a bit more in season next year when he is putting up big numbers.

FWIW... I offered 1.04 for him 2 weeks ago and was countered with 1.04 + 1.08 for CMC which was way too rich for my taste. He's a beast but the clock is ticking a bit in terms of age. But I'm an actual owner who would have paid 1.04 straight up for him in a 14-team SuperFlex just to give some context.

Start with 1.04, as you're getting either a starting QB or Gibbs. If you can't get that, I'd rather just hold and compete with him next year. But, if you're just looking to be done with him I could see moving on for 1.09 and 1.11 in that format.

He's still only 26, his elite upside comes from being a pass-catcher, and his career has featured far more healthy seasons than injured. Getting 1.04 for him feels pretty darn light to me.

It feels like most people just won’t value CMC as highly as they should anymore due to age (even though he’s not that old) and the injury history. He is a massively elite piece but seems to be undervalued in trades. The return will likely never add up to the production he gives you. I moved off of him as I basically rebuilding and managed to package him with AJB for Chase and Swift. I felt great about that return and it was the right move for my team. I think it would be tough to get a return in a straight deal that you feel really good about. He’s likely most valuable on your roster but you always don’t want to waste the value if he’s not right for your team. I just wouldn’t force anything unless it feels right.

CMC is not old, even for a RB. His mileage isn't limited to between the tackle tackles...so he's actually not at the fall-off-the-clip place yet. It's just that he keeps getting injured. I'd try to keep him if you can, and have a good backup RB in case. I don't think CMC will return great value, as much as he's worth at least, because perception = reality when it comes to trading.

Mid first and a mid 2nd is what would I would look for. 2 1st is too much to ask for considering his age and injury history.
