I am on record that I am out on him based on off the field, but I am still very surprised that people just expected the same player to come back. He has missed 27 of a possible 81 games of his career. 33% ish. He MAY get back to who he was on the field, but there is no guarantees in that statement.grandmabetty wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 10:48 amIt's been 2 games? Re: Deshaun Watson
I'm reluctantly holding onto my one share, but will also give him some time to get back to it. I'd love to trade him though. Since TLaw has finally come on, I'm not quite as desperate in my QB room

Pretty disappointed with my unrealistic expectations for his return.

QB misses two years of football, comes back to a brand new team and new offense midseason and is struggling.
Didn't see that coming.

Don't forget the part where he (rightly!) received 2 straight years of public shaming, horror-show news cycles and court cases, and being called a sex pest/creep by the public at large.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 11:15 am QB misses two years of football, comes back to a brand new team and new offense midseason and is struggling.

Just from the public shamings I've seen before, it tends to do things to people. Some are never the same.
TBD on Watto, but for sure, those massage memes and signs and heckles at the games will -never- disappear for the rest of his career.

Re: Deshaun Watson
I wont panic about his play unless be struggles next year. He needs a full offseason program amd training camp.
Re: Deshaun Watson
I might be remembering wrong but didn't he have a full off season program and training camp, then was just suspended when the season started?MFundercover wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 12:41 am I wont panic about his play unless be struggles next year. He needs a full offseason program amd training camp.
That said a bigger issue is probably being away from practices with the team the last 3+ months. I have no idea how much work he was putting in on his own. Also, he's a scummy dude and I don't care if he ends up terrible.
Re: Deshaun Watson
I think you’re right. Training camp at least. I’m pretty sure he even played a preseason game this year with the anticipation he’d miss time.Csl312 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 4:22 pmI might be remembering wrong but didn't he have a full off season program and training camp, then was just suspended when the season started?MFundercover wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 12:41 am I wont panic about his play unless be struggles next year. Re: Deshaun Watson
He was banned from team facilities and practice until late October. I dont remember if he played in the preseason but moral of the story he has had considerable absense from the team most of the seasonfrerichs5 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 7:37 pmI think you’re right. Think he is gonna be just fine. If anyone bought low that was very very smart. You weren’t ever gonna get him cheaper. In the end it’s a game Of collecting talent. The talent is still there

Re: Deshaun Watson
Yeah, I think he will be solid in 2023.
I got Watson in round 4 of a 12 team SF startup in June 2022.
I didn't make the playoffs, in fact I finished in last place, because after the Watson pick I decided to just go young, and have a VERY young and injured roster, as I took the discount on injured players too after round 4..
Grabbing players like Jameson Williams, Chase Young, etc., basically started playing for 2023 before the startup draft was over.
I expect that Watson will be in round 1 of startups in 2023 SF leagues.

To be exact: I wont panic unless he has a full offseason program with the team, training camp, and osnt banned from team activities for the first 3 months of the season, gets injured, etc and still struggles.
That said he looked good today. Dude is a good football player.
