I'm a contender and asked about him in one of my leagues, but the guy who has him is also a contender.
I would have paid a fortune for him.
He gives such a huge positional advantage that any contender not willing to pay a lot for him is doing it wrong. I know we all play fantasy, but the goal is to actually win, not just have a good team for 10 years. That is dependent on being able to pay for him without weakening your team obviously. It's not black and white

I offered Bateman and a 2023 1st, he asked for D. Smith + the 1st and I just can't see pulling the trigger on that... so his value is definitely league dependent.
I would have snap accepted that. I'm assuming your 1st will be later. Smith can be replaced.

Travis Kelce had a rough year by his standards. Is this the beginning of the end for him, or do you think he bounces back next year?
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Father time comes for everyone. He'll likely benefit from KC getting another weapon or two in the offseason, but I wouldn't count on a 34yo athlete getting more athletic when they turn 35.

This i a big questions I am trying to solve myself. Every time I watched it seemed defenses were just taking him out of the game, forcing Mahomes to look elsewhere. If they bring in another weapon does that change? I am also not sure he's been really healthy much of the year.

He's declining, but still can perform. I do think KC needs to get some better WRs around him. He's STILL the TE2 in my 1 PPR leagues—tied with Hock, LaPorta a few points more.

He is just getting old, it was bound to happen sometime.
Father Time is undefeated.

Looking at Kelce's 2023 season, it was a tale of 2 halfs.

1st 8 games was typical Kelce, he was TE1, averaging 19.5 PPR PPG.
Last 8 games Kelce is TE10 in PPG, averaging 10.4.

When the end comes, it tends to hit fast and hard.

I think you're right on both comments. This is most likely the start of the end, but I think he also has 2 or even 3 years left in the tank where he puts up high end TE1 numbers. He can still go on hot streaks and provide the kind of positional advantage he has for years, but I'm guessing there will be more and more of those 3-5 catch games for 50 or less yards.

With his age and how the end of his season has gone, I think it will be pretty difficult to get something really good in a trade. Kelce was already one of those guys that I thought I would probably just hold until his retirement, and I think the end of this season has kind of forced my hand into absolutely doing that.

He can still have some Jason Witten type years, but I think he may retire soon, rather than slowly fade.

He's won a couple of SB's, a first ballot HOFer, and he's gotten into the "brand" stuff, with his reality show, dating Swift, commercials etc.

I think he may leave with his body still quite in tact, and do the celebrity type stuff for a few years.

He looks like his body can't get to the spots it used to. He can still see it and recognize where he needs to be, but his body can't get there like it used to.

Only if you're positive that as a replacement starter he's going to be more Rice and less MVS. Not everyone can step into a prime situation and produce like great players. Make sure you believe Gray has what it takes to reproduce even 50% of Kelce. I'm not convinced he's talented enough.

I'd take a chance if the price was cheap. But I honestly haven't studied Gray enough to know if he's going to be a T10TE just because he *might* be the next man up in KC. I'm not ready to say I'm comfortable giving up something substantial to acquire Gray.

Haven’t we seen enough from Noah Gray the few games Kelce’s been injured to know he’s about 50% of Kelce and not the answer to the question ‘who is the next KC TE?’. I have had him periodically and he puts up a couple catches whenever Kelce is out… I’d be in the ‘this is a selling window’ for Gray camp than to want to trade FOR him.
