I traded a 1st for Geno- Need emotional support

I can't believe I just did that. Superflex obviously, but here we are in 2022 and I just gave up a (late) 1st for Geno smith

heavy contender, 12-1 with most points scored, and I just had Lamar Jackson go down. I had been using Daniel Jones in my superflex, and Aaron Rodgers was my QB3. Well Rodgers as we all know has sucked as a fantasy QB this year, and while Huntley is one of the best fantasy backup QBs in the league, I was worried going into playoffs relying on one of them.

Well all the other notable QBs are either owned by other contenders using them for playoffs, or younger guys with building teams who don't want to part with them. Geno Smith was the only fantasy viable option available, and the owner knew he had all the leverage. Couldn't even get a Cousins or a Carr or a Goff type.

After a streak of 2nd place finishes, I would have kicked myself if I lost relying on Rodgers or Huntley in a semi final or championship game when Geno has been doing plenty fine

Whatever it takes to win! Geno has been a consistent stud this year, so you'll at least be at ease on QB play the rest of the way. And all the pain can go right to the bank if you win the league

With your pick looking late, no reason to worry about this move as of now. If you somehow bounce out in the first round and your 1st becomes mid, I would not be pleased with the deal but Smith has been solid and should start next year. If you win a title, this deal will be well worth it. If Smith starts next year and is a top 15 QB, this deal will still be worth it either way. No need to worry about it as of now. You made a smart deal as an out and out contender with QB issues.

Thanks all. Hopefully all worth it and I take home the ship and then it's bleep them picks. Geno is probably the starter for at least another year, so if he gives me QB2 help next year as well that'd be gravy

In the league and stand by my , sounds gross but reality is he's playing well for fantasy and has likely done enough to warrant a starting job for another year or two. With Denver's extra picks that teams gonna be good next year

I would rather own Geno over Cousins at this point. I think saying Rodgers has sucked might be a tad harsh, but he has not been MVP level. I also would struggle to trust Huntley. With Walker out a couple of weeks it appears, Geno should put up some great stats to end his season and I fully expect him to be QB1 next year for Seattle. You play to win championships, not horde late 1sts.......

Smart play actually.

I tried to help out a top team a month ago when I offered him Geno for his 23 1st in a 14 team SF league.
At that time he was in 1st place in the league, and QB was his weakness, he had only Kyler Murray and Davis Mills.
Kyler got hurt and Mills lost his job, so I made the offer, he declined.

I was not expecting to make the playoffs, and I have Tua, Daniel Jones, and Geno.
Anyway, he turned down my offer, and wound up paying a 2023 2nd for Matt Ryan.
Now, with thanks to Geno (5 straight games of 20+ points), I am in 6th place, last playoff slot, and he has dropped to 4th place.

I just still shake my head when I look at his team and think how he cheaped out on a QB in a SF league.
He has Ekeler, Kamara, Chubb, so his roster is built to win now, but he is willing to blow it to save on a QB2.

IMO, you do what you have to do to win, and you can throw names out the window when it has come time to win.
I have seen many "nobodies" at any position win championships with the right timing over the years.

You play to win the game.

I wouldn't feel too bad. I had Geno at the beginning of the season and dropped him for roster cuts because I'm smart.

Tried to trade a later 1st for him and got rejected.

I don't see why you need emotional support. That's his going rate/value right now.

I like Geno and the price is reasonable. The only thing I don't love is his week 15 matchup vs SF but with your record you may have a bye that week. Pedal down. Gotta try to win it when you're in position to get it done.
