Fournette for a 24 1st?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Fournette for a 24 1st?

Postby NFL123 » Mon Oct 10, 2022 2:45 pm

12 team, 1QB league. Going to be 3-2 or 4-1 depending on MNF and I feel like having a run at the title this year as I have older players like CMC, Kelce, Zeke, Juju (probably could be described as a vet) and Beckham when he comes back. The first two probably only have another year or two as elite players, so need to either have a run at the title or look to the future.

A 24 1st wouldn't jeopardise long term completely as I have 3 1sts for 23 and 2 2nds. Plus I have just drafted Hall, London, Burks, Jameson Williams and Doubs so there's good potential there. Also have Lamar and Kyler at QB.

Another bit of info is that although I have 3 1sts next year, none of them are my own so it gives me a bit more incentive to go for a title and try to finish ahead of the teams whose picks I own.

In my situation is it worth paying a 24 1st? Thanks for any help guys.

All in, I think Fournette gives you a solid win now piece. He has been putting up numbers and has a solid workload week to week which is pretty rare for RBs in fantasy anymore. The value is here short term for a title push. You have the youth as well and more coming with your 2023 draft capital.

I think going all in trading for Fournette is a good move.
That said, if I am the team trading Fournette away, and you are offering me a 2024 pick with three 2023 1sts, I would balk, and want one of the 23 1sts.

I mean if I am not a contender, and I have Fournette, obviously I am looking to move him, but I am sure that some contender would pay a 23 1st for him, so why accept a 24 1st?

From your end it is a no brainer, sure, give up a 24 1st. I just don't see how it fits the other team.
I mean if I am in their shoes, I may take a 24 1st assuming the other team does not have a 23 1st, but no way I take a 24 1st if that team is sitting on three 23 1sts.

Fournette is an ideal all-in piece because he is perpetually undervalued compared to the guys he consistently produces on par with. He is a reception machine in this offense and the game scripts look to improve as the schedule lightens up over the next few weeks. You'd have to pay so much more to get any other top 5-10 back right now - I'd do it.
