Rhamondre Stevenson thread

Postby Pullo Vision » Wed Jul 27, 2022 6:30 pm

Stevenson had a ton of predraft hype last year but ended up in NE. He impressed so much in TC and preseason, it led to the Patriots dealing Michel. But, a fumble early in the regular season mothballed him for a month. He finished the year 133/606/5 rushing, 14/123/0 receiving, with that one fumble.

Lots of preseason smoke for Stevenson again, and various trades and offers going around, with people trying to cash in on him running with the 1s.

How's everyone feeling on Stevenson? For those who like to project exact numbers for every player, where are you putting him at this year?

I think the Pats like Damien, but I get the vibe that Rhamondre is exactly what they want. They're lining things up to let Harris walk or trade him. I'll go out on a limb and say Mondre even gets a 2nd contract and plays out his prime years in New England.

good RB but nothing special, the pats will still rotate their backs heavily. not much interest at current prices.

Pretty much my take as well. Nothing looks easy for him IMO.

I think Kevin Harris is more talented.

I love this take 8-)

I'm certainly hoping so! I'm holding him and Pierre Strong on my taxi.

I think he is the guy for the next 2.5-3 years.

Buying high on lead backs in New England has proven to be a terrible idea time and time again though. You are always better off going after the cheaper back, which is now Kevin Harris or Pierre Strong.

It’s incredible that anyone still buys a NE back. I wish I could somehow tally the draft capital to production ratio over the years. It has to be nauseating.

I’d always be down to grab a Kevin Harris or maybe Strong priced rookie and hope for the flip but everything pricier is just playing the slots.

Wow, only one person voicing anything similar to endorsing Stevenson. I'm stashing multiple NE depth backs, but Damien Harris was (around) RB 19 by average with 202/929/15 and 18/132/0- two fumbles on 220 touches. Stevenson's line again- 133/605/5 and 14/123/0, 1 fumble on 147 touches.

With White visibly hobbled and Stevenson getting third down snaps, there is a path for Stevenson to being startable, even ignoring attacking Harris's hold on the lead job.

Damien Harris had a nice year last I checked.

I'm happy to invest in NE's backfield if this is the current sentiment.

Writing Strong off completely already?

All comes down to price, which issue is there's almost no split in the value given to Stevenson and Harris with both being valued as late first to early 2nds which at that I'm leaning toward a hard neither or maybe Harris on a contender

Harris is fine. I think it's just the predictability of it:

- Whoever the lead back is in New England is usually productive.
- New England usually drafts a 4th or 5th RD RB while that RB is the lead back
- Whoever the lead back is almost never re-signs in New England.
- They almost always go somewhere else and become irrelevant
- One of the mid-round RBs they drafted becomes the successor
- Repeat cycle

Here's the list of New England's leading rushers under Belichick:

Kevin Faulk
Antwoain Smith
Corey Dillon
Laurence Maroney
Sammy Morris
Benjarvis Green-Ellis
Stevan Ridley
Jonas Gray
LeGarrette Blount
Dion Lewis
Sony Michel
Damien Harris

Most of these guys peaked in New England and did nothing notable after leaving.

I get why people aren't attracted to New England backs, but their price is so low compared to the production you'll be getting. It's not hard to get them as your RB3 or depth and you can get RB2 production out of them.

Like I said in my first post I feel like Rhamondre is their guy but that's just the vibe I get. I'm pretty sure hes going to have at least one good statistical season if not 3 or 4.

Then how about the obigatory quad/calf shot? Pierre looking not so strong. Harris looking like an NFL lead back, at least in build.
